Re: Strange behavior connecting to the echo server 55553

Sorry, I guess that is the one you tried. It works for me if that's any help.

This seems to repeat every time. I noticed when I connect to the echolink parrot server I do not get the high pitch and everything works just fine. It's just the 55553 one that does that. I don't know if it's the server having problems or either my radio or HT. Has anyone encountered this?

I just tried connecting and that sound you hear is a 1 kHz tone.

I¡¯ll let N2DYI know.

That¡¯s a 1 kHz test tone coming from that particular node. So don¡¯t worry, your equipment is fine.

I just texted Patrick about It so hopefully he will take care of it soon¡ unless he¡¯s sleeping.

Without sounding dumb how do I tell, the model I got was the pi3u? but beyond that I don't know. I've had the setup for about 4 years

Hi Brett.
?
Great looking case.? Do you have more pics of the inside and how everything mounts up ?

Re: New pi4 SHARI pihat

Here is what I found.? When you first start the ASL3 installation. it automatically installs updates but does not reboot.? Without the reboot, you get the connection failed message.? So do a reboot as soon as you check to ensure there are no more updates.
?
The above is for the Pi4.? For the Pi5, you have to edit /boot/firmware/config.txt.
?
Please look at this document for more information.

And as soon as I hit send I decided to remove the console= again and it works.? Sigh.

Subject: [SHARI] New pi4 SHARI pihat

I am trying to program the frequency on a SHARI pihat.

?

It¡¯s a pi4

I loaded ASL3

Tried without and then added the console=serial0,115200 to the end of cmdline.txt

Verified bt was disabled in config.txt

?

When the sa818 script runs I get Connection error only on the radio function.? It appears to work fine for the volume and filter functions.

?

I have built 10 of these so far but this one wants to fight me.

I used the repeaterbook app and checked the frequency I wanted to use
and 5 MHz up and down within 25 miles of my site. All good here.

As a new ham, myself.... other than listening to your ALSN frequency with no PL tone and checking repeaterbook in your area, is there any other thing we should do to stay out of the "hardway" column ?
?
I did notice when I setup my hotspot sans a PL tone that I was getting some stray signals into my node, not full conversations just some noise.? I tossed a PL tone on it and I have yet to hear any noise.? ? ?This just reminded me to remove the RX tone on my HT to make sure I am not hearing anything.?

It's worth mentioning that 446.1 mHz is indeed an active repeater input in some places.

Someone in Brooklyn who had a SHARI and didn't change it's frequency found that out the hard way once.

Are you sure you have CTTS enabled on your HT?

What mode did you select in ASL3 setup?? It needs to be duplex=1 in rpt.conf
