This is Tim, WD6AWP one of the AllStarLink admins.
We are going to decommission the old AllStar server. More on that later. For now, you need to make a simple change to one configuration file. On your node, please change the register line in /etc/asterisk/iax.conf to read:
register = 50640:pppppp@...? ? ;where pppppp is your node's password
Please make this change asap. Once we decommission the old server your node will no longer be able connect to other nodes on the AllStar network unless you make the change. For more information please visit (prefered) or reply to this email.

Hi Paul, I was able to power cycle my Allstar 10 times and out of those 10 reboots I was able to connect to my iPhone twice. This is sad?but normal for the new IOS. Apple made changes to the network?driver to support the new watches and airpods that has caused issues for ham radio. If you check the ham?forums?this problem is widespread.
When you do get a good connection the raspberry PI connects?/ disconnects / reconnects so allstar does not always read the IP aloud.
Things to check... No special characters?in the SSID (Cell phone name) or Password - make sure you use only letters and numbers!?
Make sure your cell phone is not named "Paul's iPhone" or "Paul's" as this will not?work in Linux
There are a few things to make the connection percentage go up. Make sure you're on the hotspot screen Make sure your phone is not connected to another wifi source ?
This problem is not limited to raspberry PI however they seem to have a bigger issue then other devices. If you have a TP-Link travel router, try programming that to log into your phone and plug that into your PI ethernet.
My club is using over 200 PI-STAR devices and those users with IOS devices had to abandon the idea of connecting via the iphone and went to cell hotspot until Apple fixes the issue.?

The results - neither of the iPhones would connect to my SHARI. Doing a simple power restart of the SHARI concurred?that no IP address was spoken from the SHARI while on the iPhones. This is very different than the Android and home WiFi networks.?
I understand how to turn on/off the iPhone hotspots but the iPhone no longer allows a visual indication (with an IP address) that the SHARI is connected.?
Basically, I want to connect the SHARI (RPi) to my iPhone.?

Paul, I assume you want to have your raspberry PI login so you can use your allstar node portable?
First use option 7 and setup both your home and iphone wireless settings
When you leave the house you will most likely have to cycle power for the PI to look for the next?available?WIFI.?
The biggest?issue now is the new ISO will not send a SSID unless your on the hotspot screen (the one where you turn the hotspot on/off).
Steps: Turn on the hotspot in ISO - leave on hotspot screen Within 10 seconds turn on PI This should now connect - see green oval at top Once connected you can leave hotspot screen

Here is the method I use to install the radio module.??For reference, pin 1 of the module is in the upper left corner of the module in your picture.? Count clockwise from pin 1.? ?I put a small amount of solder on the first pad (pin 13) to the left of the output pad (pin 12, trace to FL1) in your picture.? I then place and hold the module in the desired alignment/position while I remelt the solder on the pad and press the module against the board. This solder joint holds the module in the correct position.? ?I then press down on the module in the opposite corner and solder the module at pad 1 (which is the opposite corner).? Finally, I solder all of the remaining pads and resolder pad 13 if required.

Added a Receive Audio Output Jack
I wanted to connect an amp/speaker for good quality receive audio to my SHARI. I monitor various networks often. See my hookup in the files folder.

I wanted to thank SHARI for a cool ASL hotspot. I group at the Yuma Hamfest was showing it off.
I have it on a Pi2 running WB6NIL's ASL img. (allstalink.org) Install went easy. I needed to change the freq on the SHARI. Downloaded the shari-pixx-prog and install python-serial.?

Hello all, I am trying to go back to using CW as an ID instead of Voice as an ID.? Can someone please walk me thru how to do that without having to reload the MicroSD card. From what I have read, and compared to my other nodes, it should already be transmitting CW for the ID....but it is definitely voice.? Below is the lines from rpt.conf line 220+

I think I'm going to do the same. With the proliferation of wall warts and even larger supplies all switched now, and all the kinds of RF flying around in this crackerbox palace of an apartment, I probably need, or should have, them on just about everything connected with RF.
