Re: Tips for changing to new router / IP provider?

Easiest way use the same SSID and voila instant reconnect unless your IP is static and the new routers up has a diff subnet

Hello Alan,
Two things that you will need to do on your new router or modem combo
unit are: reserve an internal private IP Address within the DHCP
Server settings for your Shari node, and forward a UDP port (default
4569) to the newly reserved IP.

Unfortunately, the procedures on how to do this vary from router or
modem to router or modem. no two manufacturers are the same, and some
even confuse the situation more by providing different wording or
terminology for accomplishing the same things.

However, it looks like you're in Ontario Canada, as am I, so if you're
going with one of the "Big Three", and their provided modem/router
combo units, I should be able to help you.
If you're going with an off-the-shelf router, I, or others on this
list may be able to help you as well.

Please let us know what ISP, and/or which modem/router combo or
stand-alone router you choose to go with, and if I can help, I
certainly will.
