Tommy,

I am the moderator for groups.io in conjunction with Doug and his partners. At this time, i view groups.io as a different medium--with different goals--than FaceBook or MeWe. If you have specific ideas on how to improve our use of group.io, I am more than willing to listen and evaluate your suggestions.?

Re: Transition from Facebook to MeWe

Hi Doug,

Will someone be maintaining the groups.io site? ?I have tried MeWe recently and did not like the site navigation. ?There was a lot of advertisements and everytime someone sent a message in one of the groups I was following, it would send a notification message that sounded like my Ring Doorbell going off. ?I went outside with a gun the first night thinking someone was playing games at my house, LOL! ?I would like to keep up with the group and my hopes is that there is an alternative such as groups.io for those of us that will not be using MeWe.

Transition from Facebook to MeWe

开云体育

Hello SADRC!

?

Many of you may recall that I started the SADRC group with One (1) Simplex node, antenna, and a computer about 3 ? years ago. ?My home node worked so well that others talked me into getting a C4FM repeater. One led to Two (2) repeater that lead to Four (4) more.

?

With the support of my partners and this community, we now operate Six (6) repeaters and have several repeater partners that are linked. ?We created a SADRC Facebook account, website () , ?[email protected] ; and sadrc@... for direct contact to our group. ?We just launched our Blanco/Spring Branch repeater and will be acquiring new duplexers that will allow us to operate this repeater at 50 watts. ?We are greatful for your following and we hope you enjoy the information we put on the site. I look forward to seeing new posts almost every other day. ?This group is very personal to me as I have invested so much time and energy into it.? I am greatful to know each and everyone of you.? This group through our Go Fund Me campaign has helped us off set utility and insurance costs so we continue to grow and provide state of the art technology and wide area coverage beyond San Antonio.

?

Face Book Transition

Due to personal reasons, I need to close our SADRC Facebook account as it’s tied to my personal account and there are some family security issues that are involved.? Put yourself in my shoes as a Father! ?

?

I explored transferring the site to one of my partners but since I am closing all accounts, I am locked out and can’t provide updates that are needed. Since I am the originator of the account, I would like to continue the tradition but on a new platform. ??I would ask that you kindly support this transition. It is not my intent to lose FB followers but as I mentioned it is required on my end.? I have exhausted all options when I considered this change.

?

I welcome EVERYONE to please follow SADRC on our NEW MeWe platform at the link below. Simply download and click follow. I will be taking the Facebook site most likely by Monday at the latest. ?Please copy and send to others that may not be aware.?

?

I apologize for the abrupt change but it is necessary. I would not take this drastic of a decision unless it was absolutely necessary. I spent four (4) years creating this account so it saddens me to have to move it. Please give MeWe a try. We have around 25-30 people that have are began the transition over.

?

I will try my best to transfer over as much information as possible.? I have downloaded every file and picture from our FB site.

?

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly.? Again, I appreciate the support we have from this group and look forward to the transition to the new platform.? Not much changes as we will be sharing information with one another as we have in the past.? I would expect WeMe to continue to provide additional features making it 2nd to none to Facebook in time.? As the owner, I am paying for this platform and I would ask that we give it a try.

?

Thanks so much for everyone’s support and cooperation!

New SADRC Blanco/Spring Branch Repeater Launched! Need your help to get this back on the air!

开云体育

?

440.275 Blanco/Spring Branch Repeater is Launched!

?

?

We are very excited to announce that we have launched our new Blanco/Spring Branch repeater on the air in late September. ?Unfortunately, the duplexers we acquired have failed and need to be replaced.? We have covered all of the costs including the DR2 Repeater, hardline, brand new antenna, mounting hardware, computer, Wires X -HRI 200, Internet and electricity.

?

This repeater is located in Blanco county about 5 miles NE of 306 and US 281 in Blanco County. It is 1400 ASL (elevation) and covers 15 miles North of Johnson City on US 281 (Half way to Marble Falls) and all the way back South to 1604 and US 281 in San Antonio.? It blankets Canyon Lake and covers the hill country really well!? We have also received reports from stations in the San Marcos area that we have base coverage in that vicinity.

?

Chris, KI5IIZ is the Trustee for this repeater site and operates under the club call sign of WS5DRC. We are very grateful to have received $185 to date and need to raise $500-$550 total for a good used set Band Pass/Band Reject duplexers.?

?

Should you be able to help contribute towards this repeater project, your “Gift of Money” will go a long way to getting this repeater up this year!

Hello,

?

I am pleased to announce that SADRC will be putting up a new repeater Sunday around noon located in S. Blanco county located just North of 306 and 281.?

?

This will be linked to the SADRC Wires X 40324.? The new repeater frequency is 440.275 (Digital Narrow) DN.? It is expected to provide coverage in all of Comal county including hard to reach areas in Canyon Lake.? The coverage maps indicates we will provide coverage North to i290 along 281 to Johnson City. The repeater will also cover Blanco county, N. Bexar County, portions of Kendall as well.

?

Chris KI5IIZ will be the Trustee and the repeater will fly the club call of WS5DRC on 440.275.

?

In addition, we have had another repeater join us on 440.500 (soon to be relocated to Sequin)? Bob N2MOO is the owner and Trustee of the repeater. At the moment it’s up about 25 feet besting tested in Cibolo. This will also be linked to SADRC providing coverage to our NE.

?

You can find our current repeaters on

SADRC Repeater Updates & Help needed from the group

Hello,

Today we installed a 100 Watt Henry amplifier back on line for our 443.200 repeater.?? We also installed our amplifier back on line for our 146.780 with an output of 70 watts to the antenna last month.?? We need to purchase a Pre-Selector to reduce the high noise floor at this site for our 146.780 repeater.?? We hope to be able to find this for under $200.00

We planned on ordering new cables for both repeaters, however, our insurance premium increased and we had to cut a check for $450.00 out of our account. This wiped out our budget for the year.?? The current cables are not adequate and need to be replaced in order for the receiver and transmitter for work in harmony.

We have approximately $150.00 for the remainder of the year.?? Our electricity cost with the addition of the AC unit is averaging $80 per month with this high heat.?? We have enough money to cover our electricity for about Two (2) months.?? Again, we don't require money for membership, however, our annual operating cost to keep 2 of our 5 repeaters on the air is about $1200 per year.?? This does not include equipment upgrades, maintenance, repairs, internet, computers, RF links, and internet to run the room and other sites. The other repeater costs come out of our own pockets.?? We plan on putting up a new repeater at I281 and 306 just West of Canyon Lake later this year.?? Duplexers need to be ordered at used cost of about $500.00.?? This will provide coverage all through Canyon Lake and up to 290 and 281.

Should you be able to assist us on our Go Fund Me program, any amount you can provide as a "Gift of Money", is appreciated! We are adding repeaters and constantly updating the network.

The SADRC room internet connection was upgraded to 400 Mbps down and 25 Mbps Up.?? Our YSF reflector is behind a fire wall so we have carrier speeds.

Our Go Fund Me program can be found directly at

Again, we are grateful for your support and look forward to meeting in person with you in the near future.?? We are discussing a Winter Field day with more information to come.

If you look back in the threads this has been discussed. This is due to the fact that the FT-2D is a soft power button. This means that a small amount of power is always pulled in order to allow the radio power button to work.

If the radio is going to be stored then removing the battery is suggested.

I have a question about the battery life on the Yaesu FT2D. It drains

FDA Hand Sanitizer Recall - Important

开云体育

Hello,

?

As you may or may not be aware, the FDA has recalled over 150 Hand Sanitizers many containing Methanol that can cause major health problems absorbed through the skin or worse if a young child or individual indigested it.

?

Please check you hand sanitizers against the FCA list or use the KSAT link (easier to navigate).? I found 6 brand that I purchased to be recalled and dangerous.? Many of these were purchased at Walmart, Costco, and Walgreens.

?

Please take a moment to see if your hand sanitizer is on this list as it may be dangerous.

Subject: [gvarc] Ray Pitzen Passing

?

I'm sorry to inform you all that Ray passed on yesterday evening around 7:00 pm.? Knowing it was time, Pam and daughter Kathy were at his side and the homecare RN made sure his passing would be pain free. Pam's daughter is coming in tomorrow. Funeral arrangements are TBD, but when I find out I'll let you all know.? Of course, funerals in this COVID climate have become complicated.

Pam and Kathy appreciate all the support.

?

More to follow.
