If you look back in the threads this has been discussed. This is due to the fact that the FT-2D is a soft power button. This means that a small amount of power is always pulled in order to allow the radio power button to work.

If the radio is going to be stored then removing the battery is suggested.

I have a question about the battery life on the Yaesu FT2D. It drains
the battery down even when not in use after a few weeks. Is this normal
because none of my handhelds do this.
