You can travel up I35 and come in on 146.780 until you hit San Marcos.? Once you reach Austin, change over to Louis’ repeater on 147.160 in Georgetown/Round Rock area.? It should carry you to Belton.

John Douglas W5NZK who is one of the SADRC repeater owners is the Communications Chair Person for the CWC Alamo Council wide camp out for the BSA.? (Scouts)

?

John and I will be demonstrating ham radio at the BSA camp out located at Bear Creek in Hunt, TX.? (About 2 hours NW of San Antonio)? The event is this Saturday, September 11^th from 8AM – 5PM.?

?

There will be around 900 scouts present.? We had an individual that unfortunately had something come up and we are in real need of help so we don’t ?let the Scouts down.? I will be driving on there from San Antonio early Saturday morning and if you are interested you can ride with me.

?

There is a short On Line Youth Protection course required in order to participate.? If you are interested, please call contact John Douglas W5NZK at 210-387-8217.?

?

I have participated in this event previously and it’s a rewarding experience to see the scouts make an HF, VHF/UHF contact and we need the communities help!

?

The short youth training takes about 45 minutes to an hour and you will be able to print your certification and attend.

?

Please consider helping otherwise the event will not go off well as planned.

?

I have heard from others trying to use this radio in the past and honestly I don’t have an answer for you on this.? I would suggest reaching out to John Kruk ?at j.kruk@... National Sales Manager for Yaesu or contact Yaesu technical support for help and guidance.?? I think you will get a quicker answer here of whether this can be achieved.? I would suggest talking to Juan Hernandez who manages all of the Technical support for Fusion equipment.? We know Juan well.? Ask the operator tor transfer you to him.?

I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer and is getting prepared for the cooler weather as fall is around the corner.? My daughter Lexi is off to college in College Station tomorrow so we are busy buying all the things she needs for her apartment.?

?

As the weather becomes cooler and the kids go back to school, I look forward to hearing more people on the air.? Don’t forget about our weekly nets at 7:30 PM Central time.? Our repeater and network information are below in our salutation.

?

Louis, K5UUT’s repeater (147.160) is now up on a 500-foot tower located near Georgetown so we have continuous coverage from South Austin to Temple, TX mobile on his system.? We have expansion goals of putting up Two (2) more sites as site opportunities emerge.? Currently concentrating on sites in San Marcos and possibly the west side of San Antonio.? Our goal is have continuous coverage along I35 from Pleasanton to Temple.

?

Our 147.160 repeater in San Antonio is connected to the Texas Patriots which is an awesome group of guys and their network is growing.? Their network covers Houston, Cleveland, TX, Huntsville, TX etc.? Please stop by and meet the group there. We also have our 443.200 repeater connected to the state-wide Texas Nexus network for the community to enjoy.? Don’t forget about our 440.275 located in Blanco County along Texas 281.? This repeater covers from North Bexar County past John City and along 290 in Dripping Springs.? It blankets Canyon Lake where there is little coverage.? We have several partner repeaters connected into the SADRC Network and we appreciate all of their support in providing coverage and keeping their networks on the air!

SADRC is in need of your help!

?

We have our annual insurance premiums coming up as well as past, current, and future utility costs that need to be paid.? We are not a 501C3 tax deductible group so we can’t call it a donation.? We would be “Grateful” ?for any amount of financial support you can offer to help us offset on going costs. (Gift of Money – not tax deductible)?

?

We have paid for all of the repeaters and try to maintain the equipment but the on-going monthly costs at our main site is about $100 per month (not including all of the other repeaters, computer, RF links FTM 100’s, etc.) My DR2 repeater went down due to an electricity hit and these are some of the costs that we pay out of pocket to keep the network up. We have power supplies being rebuilt for our 100-watt PA decks and put in air conditioning last year to maintain our repeaters so they don’t fail.? We had massive component failure as everything was overheating previously.? Since then, we installed brand new DR2 repeaters our main site.

?

Should you believe that our network is worthwhile and would like to support us,? we would appreciate of your support!. ?The club does not make any money from the Gift of Money and all monies are towards maintenance and operating costs of the network.
