My FTM-400 serial port is being repaired & don't know it's return shipment will be - could take forever.
I have HRI-200 and all it's cables, WIres-X program, antennas on the poarch, computer inside the house, and, a VX-8R with working micraphone and speaker.
If you look up VX-8R you can see it has WIRES capabillity [not to be confused with WiRES-X - that's different]. And so this redio can connect to the server in Japan.
VX-8R has 6-pin serial connection and has analog BB audio input/output that HRI-200 kit cables can interface baseband (BB) audio in and out of the HRI,
HRI-200 kit has a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter cable to interface to HRI 8 Pin serial port.[I would be using likely serial connection number one]
If I can find a repeater with trustee programming handling analog+C4-m uplink and downlink translation, and allows for room switching (in my case selection) then, I should be able to use WIRES DTMF sequences by using DTMF sequences stored in the VX-8R. The sequences I would store are those for present day WiRES-X node/room interoperabillity. A properly configured DR-1/DR-2 could hear DTMF WiRES-X sequences, to connect to a room registered to any YASEU node with the server in Japan. At least this what I think right now,
If you know what I have described above is a possibillity, then let me know, otherwise, if there is a WiRES-X aficionado in the club then please foreward my email here to that person, so I know if I can use my VX-8R like I describe. Maybe that person can suggest another method to connect to SADRC. I can't use the pflugerville repeater, because it is configured for modulation mode only - no anlog FM up or down, But If I can find another repeater properly configured, then I may have success with equipment of HRI, HRI cables, Internet, WiRES-X program, and VX-8R.
I don't have VX-8DR. I have VX-8R analog FM as it's only modulation mode .
