Re: Paint/texture of Fed S2 bumper
The original Federal bumpers were chunks of expanded foam covered with a smooth, vinyl-ish skin. The ABS replacements seem to have more of a pebbled finish, as I recall.

Paint/texture of Fed S2 bumper
It looks to me like the federal rear bumper, oh I got to stop myself. I¡¯ve got a replacement bumper because I believe they were vinyl covered? Originally. So did the vinyl have texture, so that I

Re: Hesitiant at low revs.
I DO give both my cars a check up on a regular basis. However, I am NOT a mechanic and do tend to rely on our UK MOT test to find any major problems. I cannot believe the UJ's failed completely in the

Re: Hesitiant at low revs.
Glad you found your problem, and it was an ¡®easy¡¯ solution. Sounds like you don¡¯t do the annual inspection of your car like Lotus recommends. On a 40+ year old car, I consider that paramount.

Re: Painting: Masking waist band?
I had my car painted several years ago, in my garage. The painter didn¡¯t do anything special, and didn¡¯t have any trouble with the trim Bill Sent: Monday, June 5, 2023 11:59 AM To:

Re: Painting: Masking waist band?
Hi Gordon, Wouldn't think it necessary to mask the body joint ridge, never read or heard of anyone doing so. The trim is flexible and the buildup of paint will not be unduly thick.

Re: Painting: Masking waist band?
I had mine recently painted, I believe they did paint the whole car and then used a heat gun to install the trim. Still looks good after 20 months. Murray Graham 416-799-4219

Has anyone painted or had their Esprit S2 painted and know whether it¡¯s prudent to mask the waist band support pieces. It seems like using several coats of primer and then several coats of paint

Re: engine photo
Rich, There's room for the sump to come out. The difficulty is human access and having enough wrists and elbows to reach everything. I did it when I was younger. Take a look and decide for yourself.

Rich, The oil pick-up tube rises through the sump to the point under that brass 'plug'. There, it's fitted with a plastic double-taper ring and compression fitting. The brass 'plug' is a part of that
