Re: Oil pressure tester/gauge adapter

Jeff,
It's been a long time, but...

When I needed to replace that oil pressure fitting, I was living "out indah woodts" in northern Minnesota. The nearest town (300 people) had a small hardware store. I took the old fitting to the store, and said, "I need one like this". The guy goes, "Hmmm... come this way". We went to the plumbing section, he openned a drawer/ bin, dug around a bit, and pulled out a compression fitting. It had the same thread and plastic olive (compression seal), but it was a 90 degree elbow instead of straight. In the end, I actually liked the elbow better, since it helped organize some of the rat's nest clutter under the carbs.

The fitting was for a capillary tube inside a residental water softener. Cheap. And even a little store in the middle of no-where had a bunch of them.

I don't have a part number for you, but I suggest that you just take the old fitting to a local hardware store and give them a chance. Maybe point them in the direction of the plumbing department.

Good luck,
Tim Engel

Hello all,
I'd like to know best way to test oil pressure in my 907 engine. In particular, I have a oil pressure tester/gauge but need to know best place to access oil pressure and size of fittings to make an adapter. So far, I have attempted to access pressure via the fitting that leads from the engine block to the oil pressure sending unit (small black tube), but the fitting seems not normal as I have unsuccessfully tried to attach every fitting available in my Lotus random parts bin. Anyway, if you have made an adapter to attach to the engine and generic oil pressure gauge, please send pic or let me know the type/size of that odd little fitting.
Thanks,
Jeff
