Mike,
The story of your beautiful Mountain had to be told!? ?I know I'm speaking for Phil Scandura, Ass't Editor for Scale, and Terry O'Kelly, Ass't Editor for AF/HR that we are always willing to help would-be authors get material prepared for DISPATCH.? As the three of us know, and you have discovered, it's very satisfying to see your work in print!? And what's more, the whole idea of DISPATCH is to share S modeling with fellow NASG members...and Dan can only publish what is submitted. ?

开云体育Mike the report on your engine building is really interesting.? Where does one go to learn the skill of building an engine in brass?? I don’t recall seeing any adult Ed classes for it.? If I wanted to build one I wouldn’t have the foggiest of how to start.? The article was only a tease. Tom Stoltz in Maine |

Apart from the several Thornburgh construction articles in MRR from the late 1940's up to the Wabash mogul in 1960, Gordon Odegaard had a series of articles on scratchbuilding a basic 4-6-0 in MRR in the 1970's (perhaps 1980's).? Another good armchair approach
is locating the SSL&S catalogues with their instructions on assembling their "kits."

Jace,
?
nice suggestion but I suppose not many of us have been there to read those articles in the time they were published. And I also don't know any archive where to get them as pdf or jpg. Maybe a time to start a new "how to"-thread on brass?

Much harder in Germany, but in recent years aging and departing modelers in the US have literally been giving away back issues of magazines.??
Someone on this list, however, might have a spare copy of the SSL&S catalogue to share.

Hello Mike,
? ? Congratulations on making the cover of the NASG magazine and having a featured article about your build.? I had been on the fence about joining the NASG and your announcement convinced me finally to pull the trigger.? Hopefully I am not too late to get this volume of the magazine.? Keep up your amazing work!

开云体育David,That’s wonderful you’re joining the NAGS. Let me be the first to welcome a fellow Mopac modeler to the club.? You’re one of the few that have seen the Mountain and the my other locomotives in person.? If you don’t get this edition of the Dispatch. I’m thinking that if you ask they will provide a copy.?
