White Rock trestle and T&NO caboose

开云体育

I often don't realize that many/most have never seen my layout during it's evolution.? As I mentioned yesterday along with the Detroit station rebirth,? the Great Plains Northern was supposed to transport large marble type rocks but they didn't make it.? The crew mentioned strong winds, while the road-master was thinking excessive speed on the curve!? The engineer once claimed to be the third cousin of Casey Jones, so that might explain it!? No major trackage was disturbed so it might have just been a loose load--yeah, that'll sound good on the report!

Anyway, I make a quickie of the trestle with the rocks now embedded in the ground for several years now!? The end of a local freight crew using a T&NO (SP) caboose are used to the height and the still sharp rocks below!?

BTW another caboose of the run but with just the SP lettering is for sale at the BBB too!

In my cleanup effort I gathered some SHS couplers that I can part with.? Shown in the photo are 6 pair of the standard couplers and 2 pair of the coupler attachments used on their F unit.? Anybody with $22.00 plus shipping can claim these treasures!

I don't have my Champ catalogue to hand, but I think I remember they offered them, which presumably means Enhorning was making them at some point.

The Detroit station is somewhat similar to the overly large T & P Station in Fort Worth.? I've only seen it while stopped for fuel while abroad Amtrak once.? Occasionally a SOO line combine with passengers will be left on the trestle while switching is happening in the yard.?

Ford ( my favorite car company) reopened a long closed rock quarry to get the same stone used in the original construction for the restoration. Ford was the force to make the restoration happen.

Re: AM Boxcar Stirrup Steps

Jace,?

I followed a Troxell work around by using simple staples re-bent into the correct shape.? We drilled new mounting holes near the edge the old broken one and fresh flooring--a bit trickey but with super glue they are very sturdy.? Very cheap too!
Or you could have my friend Rusty the Brassbasher cast you a mess of them.? I understand he made replacements for the PRS reefers and I know he made excellent long drop step additions to the AM baggage/RPO cars despite being designed for the Southwind cars!?

For me, these have always been the Achilles heel of the kit (I've never owned any of their more recent ready-to-run cars, so I don't know?
whether it was ever corrected).? They are fragile and thinnest where they most need strength.??
Has anyone come up with a solution or a replacement?? Is there enough interest for Jim King to develop resin printed replacements, as he did for the PRS refrigerator cars?

My main line turnouts are custom made code 137 mostly with P48 castings. Some “S Scale” wheels ride up in the frogs. Also P48 wheels are code 110 – a 25% larger scale with the same wheel width. Just goes to show how oversized model train stuff is in all scales.
