Clinic(s) For the Convention

Hi All,

I am sorry to drop this on you last moment but due to unfortunate circumstances, we are in need of one more clinician for the upcoming 2024 NASG Convention which is being held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania this year.? The dates of the convention are Wednesday July 17 through to Saturday July 20.? The timeslot is Saturday morning at 10 am or could be negotiated.? ?If you are willing to share your hobby ideas, give a tour of your layout, demonstrate certain skills or methods,? or any other model railway or prototype topic that interests you, we would welcome a 45 minute presentation.? If you need any help writing it up or converting your ideas to a PowerPoint presentation, we have people that can help.

Please contact me directly and not through the list.

Thanks for your consideration.

cheers,

Andy Malette

Re: Decal search

Bud,

I'm glad I could lend some assistance.

I saw a GE hopper in the Cleveland plant once. We had done a couple of projects for GE and I saw the hopper on a siding adjacent to the plant.

Corning has a fleet of nondescript hoppers also. I did a project in Harrodsburg, KY and NS would deliver a handful of hoppers every week.

Mike Lytle, ? Thanks much for those GE hopper photos, I like both versions and Protocraft sells both. I doubt they’d make only a couple sets in S so I will order the O scale sets and I have an HO friend locally who makes decals. I’m thinking he could make them only for my use so as not to get into copy issues.

Re: Decal search

Bud: You want Enhroning set ST-159? It has the same ILDX reporting mark as the hopper you are trying to do. Not sure if data is appropriate though but I have hopper data sets. I only have 1 available set I could sell.

Re: Decal search

Edited

Bud: Enhorning made these for tank cars but not for the covered hoppers wanted. You might see if that O scale decal place shown by other members will reproduce them also in S Scale. I know they once stated they sold only O scale but I seem to recall that they have since reconsidered and may now be offering some of their sets in S Scale.
I would try that first. I may have one or 2 sets of these for the S Scale Tank cars as offered by Enhorning. I can also supply a data set which should work for the covered hopper So you could use the logos and my data set to make this work. I will check my old Enhorning sets and see if I have that tank car set.

White Rock trestle and T&NO caboose

开云体育

I often don't realize that many/most have never seen my layout during it's evolution.? As I mentioned yesterday along with the Detroit station rebirth,? the Great Plains Northern was supposed to transport large marble type rocks but they didn't make it.? The crew mentioned strong winds, while the road-master was thinking excessive speed on the curve!? The engineer once claimed to be the third cousin of Casey Jones, so that might explain it!? No major trackage was disturbed so it might have just been a loose load--yeah, that'll sound good on the report!

Anyway, I make a quickie of the trestle with the rocks now embedded in the ground for several years now!? The end of a local freight crew using a T&NO (SP) caboose are used to the height and the still sharp rocks below!?

BTW another caboose of the run but with just the SP lettering is for sale at the BBB too!

In my cleanup effort I gathered some SHS couplers that I can part with.? Shown in the photo are 6 pair of the standard couplers and 2 pair of the coupler attachments used on their F unit.? Anybody with $22.00 plus shipping can claim these treasures!

Re: T&NO (was Detroit's Michigan Central Station

Joe Dale is a special guy, too!? If you see him again, tell him hi for me.? ?We do exchange?Christmas greetings.?

Bill Winans
--------------------------

I have an autographed copy by the two authors, one with whom I shared my recent Mexican meal with on Friday!? Joe Dale Morris was an early contributor to the Austin Steam Train effort, but very strong personalities soon conflicted!?

A steam era caboose lettered for the TN&O part of the SP is on my layout.? It's a bit of an orphan but was given to me by the family of a departed member and friend.? My SP 2-10-2 might also have a TN&O #--I need to check, as it was ordered without being pre-lettered . That engine was from the Family of Jack Troxell for my help. ?

Two packages of (4) 36" P:64, NWSL 36" Premium NS wheelsets, Shouldered axle

One package of Precision Scale Sn3 wheelsets.? 8 axles, shiney metal with pointed axles

Can be yours for $22.00 plus shipping--should go in a padded envelope to keep shipping low!

I don't have my Champ catalogue to hand, but I think I remember they offered them, which presumably means Enhorning was making them at some point.
