Re: WP wood reefer

Re: New ACF Twin Covered Hopper Kit?

Hi Mike,
The Twin Cities Division of the NRA will have their Prototype Modelers meet here in Minnesota on March 14-15.? If you have a test sample we could show off, please send it.? I will return it right after the show.? We will be showing the BENN CENTRAL cars and everything else we can show in S Scale.

In a recent video, they said June to get code 100 rail from their supplier.

I have some of John Wickham's (AMAZING) turnouts... so I will take some photos and send them to Peter ASAP for posting on the NASG site.

Mike,
Are you doing the printing, packaging and shipping the cars yourself?

I used to see C&NW 40¡¯ wood reefers coming eastbound on NYC/PC freights in the 70¡¯s, granted only one once in awhile but definitely wood sheathed.

Hello Mike,
? ? Your kit looks very good in the prototyping phase.? I'm very interested in this project.? The Missouri Pacific used a lot of these hoppers so you have a guarantee sell of at least two kits when you start selling them.? Already got the decals ready to go from Tichy Trains. Please keep the group updated.

A prototype that has never been available as a mass-market product; I own two brass imports, but that gets expensive in a hurry.

I seem to recall someone announced here they were working on a kit for this model from the late 1930's.? Or am I just dreaming?? I'm hoping for one with the triangle cutout sides to come to market.? I can kitbash one, but at my age it might take two years of solid work. (8-)
Thanks,
George Courtney

Yes, I was and I still am working on that ACF 70 Tonner with open sides. A fall down the basement steps cause a broken leg, which
took months to heal.?
Good news is, I'm back to working on that project. Right now, I'm building some test models to see how the 3D printing is working
out. This 3D printing is a real pain trying to get all the details right. Very shortly I'll be offering up some of the test models. The car
will come pretty much assembled, with about an ounce of weight added to the inside of the hoppers. I have well over a hundred?
hours in this project, not counting the time it takes?to print the whole thing. So far, I've used over $200 worth of resin, but getting
pretty close to some sort of finish. The price will be $75 per car with free shipping.

Only flex track???

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Micro Engineering has been making Tomalco flex ?track forever so as mentioned in the press release you should have code 83 in the next 1-2 months. I am Zooming with them tomorrow and maybe get a better idea of when. Code 100 will hopefully be for sale at the NASG convention. Micro Engineering/Tomalco has never made plastic tie turnouts. They were hand built wood tie turnouts that frequently were massively out of gauge when purchased.

?

I am not sure how you could have missed it but if you are asking about my announcement last year of Pennsy S Models all new flex track and turnouts - we are concentrating on making plastic tie turnouts to current satandards. We are finding out how amazingly expensive that is going to be. Something like a concrete tie flex track may happen at some point but that is not a priority now.

?

Until ready to run plastic turnouts are available we are recommending you use Empire Trackworks.

Thank You,

Ron,
Trina is interesting to view in Google Maps, Sat mode. The north end of town has a reverse loop with a 4 track, unhindered, staging yard. Pretty cool.
