Wow, I thought it was just mine.? What I wound up doing was swap the Delrin bearings with the ones from the original high water truck bearings.? Things rolled a lot better after that.

you are absolutely right, the last run's trucks lower the car but are not sprung, the springs have no function. I changed the wheelsets against regauged ones from the first run. And drilled out the too tight bearings with a 1.5 mm drill using my accu Dremel. What I also had to do was widening the holes in the corrected truck bolster to enlargen the width of the truck a tiny bit giving the gauge corrected wheels enough space to spin freely. A good portion of oil also helps. The converted hopper may not be the greatest runner - but it rolls acceptably. A second hopper I converted with spare trucks by MTH I found in one of my boxes. Shortened Spax screws did the job of fixing the trucks.
What I did find on NWSL's HP: S scale wheelsets are available again, with different axle ends and in 33" as well as 36" versions.

Re: Today’s S Scale project
I put in a couple more hours on the mud and here’s what I have accomplished. Boiler bands are made and soldered on. They are made from 9000 thick brass and I cut them on the paper cutter to .50 wide. Because the boiler is bronze and very heavy to solder to I drilled a hole .50 in diameter in the very bottom of the boiler where the band we go, then I made hooks on the band and set them in the hole and then pull them around the boiler as tight as I could get them and hammered them into the hole. I then put solder in the joint all the way around the band in the boiler and I did the same with the second band next to the fire box. That band is bent in the hole for the gearbox And wrapped around the boiler and then of course spent on the other side to make it nice and tight I soldered both bands on at the same time using a plumbers torch. I then centered it all up on the cylinders and drilled a number 43 hole up in the cylinder front and tap for a 440 screw so now the boiler is screwed to the cylinders and is lined up. I then took it back off and went to a belt, sander and sanded the firebox down far enough and equal to the rivet line to where it cleared the top of the drivers on the rear. Before I did that I did hung almost a quarter inch below the top of the driver, the crank pin would’ve hit and everything else would’ve bound up. So in keeping with the slope of the ash pan, which will come later, I cut the bronze boiler back using that belt sander and kept everything even. I got a nice clearance above the driver and I’m happy with it. I then followed up by making the back head out of .009 brass sheeting. I formed it by heating it to a cherry red and then letting it air cool. I was able to form it around the bronze boiler and then cut that edge to shape and file. It’s a simple process, but it’s time consuming to heat and beat and repeat until you get it all the way you want it. It is now soldered to the back of the boiler casting. I then made sure that the cab sits on the boiler exactly the way I want it and it’ll get soldered on next. I’m just not sure if that’s what I wanna do yet so I gotta think about it. I may make flanges and screw it to the boiler so I can keep it removable. Not sure if it’s necessary since I’ve never done it to my other locomotives. I’m gonna post a picture of the domes and the stack sitting on the top of the boiler. They’re just sitting on the boiler to give me an idea of how they would look. I’ve got a lot of different domes and stacks to choose from and I’m kind of be Twix on the ones that are on the layout next to the locomotive and the ones that are on top of the locomotive. Gotta think about which ones I really like before I solder them on.

If you only have a few to do, and/or don't want to drag out a corded dremel, you can use a fiber or stainless steel scratch brush: does a great job very quickly.??
This is not a wood handled brush but one that looks like a retractable pencil.? These I found quickly but there are others selling at less cost.??
