Groups.IO messages not coming thru

All of my Groups.IO digest mode emails stopped coming thru overnight.? I checked my .IO settings and just verified with Spectrum that nothing has changed there.? Since I would normally get a response to this post via .IO, please contact me off list if you're experiencing similar issues, know if there's a problem on Groups' end, etc.? I did send an email to "support" at Groups and got a rubber-stamp reply so that is working, just not any of the chat groups.

I think Airflow was an automobile marketing term.? While I am by no means expert about more modern freight cars, there were Airslides (GATX) and ACF Center Flows.

There is a book written about the Milwaukee Road's? financial woes.? The author mentions that they had assigned several Airflow hoppers to a client in Montana.? Those cars beat the pants off the BN's service for that client.? Apparently that vintage of car, like the ACF version, was well liked.? The GPNTRR has two of them!? With free rolling replacement trucks they roll almost forever!

I’m not sure about update. ?It is a longer and higher capacity car.

Not at all.? While there were only a limited number of the RRM Airslides (I have done my share to reduce any available ones), there are enough still out there that it wouldn't have made much sense for Ben to reinvent the wheel.? Those are all single discharge cars, both early and later configuration.
As I've just indicated, I like them, despite their being rather too modern for a transition era dairy country short line and will be very interested to see what Ben might bring to Harrisburg.? In addition to brass imports, MTH made a pretty credible twin-hopper Airslide in O scale.

Cab window extenentions came with the extra parts package with the SD-7/9's.? I used mine on a CNW. unit.?
At one of the Houston S Gaugers meetings, I expressed a wish for one for the Alco RS road switchers.? The Milw's seemed much homemade to me.? A good 0 scale friend made one for me for my RSD4.? I had supplied photos, but he fabricated it for the wrong window --2 or3 panes.? He just used sheet brass and pounded it into the needed shape--just never had the opportunity to actually use it

I have created all weather cab windows for early to ?? EMD GP locomotives and switchers. ?I based it on a brass version, whose origin I don’t know, with some modifications to show the sliding sash.

They are for sale $2.50 each plus packaging and shipping. ?I will also have some at the Harrisburg NASG convention this July.

For sale Overland Models Wide vision cabooses

For sale: 3 Overland Models S scale wide vision cabooses with original OMI boxes. Suitable for numerous roads including DRGW . Two are like new unpainted $100 each plus shipping.? One is Pro painted for C&O $125.? Buy all three and I pay the shipping.? Dale DeWitt 314-821-1368, dcdewitt@...

Jamie,
Having never seen that bridge, I can understand why the Erector thing might be a stretch.? However, being a problem solver photographer...I would think either a thin sheet of textured shower door material laid over some black/or medium blue plexiglass would make for a great base for said bridge!? The textured glass to mimic a light to moderate chop on the water while the black plex would do for dark water and it's reflective capacity too.? With a transparent blue, so wisps of airbrush work could be fair at duplicating deep water, without making it look like your going to poison the folks downstream!? Talk about realism!

Obviously the weight of those materials would be a bit much to hoist into place unless it's a permanent location.? I was thinking of the ancient scene from the AF Boy's club where, If I'm not mistaken, the boys temporarily install an Erector bridge just as they began to start the program.?

Bob,

I think using some of the structural steel available at the typical Home 'Depot, one could build one quite nicely.? Then maybe even better is laminating and overlapping strips of thin wood.? My hometown gym built in the mid 50's is still standing despite some heavy snow loads.? Beams (arched) are probably 20 x 36" spaced 16' with a 80' span!? Similarly the South Dakota state highway system built several laminated highway bridges in a very scenic area in the Black Hills.? A miniature bridge like this would give our civil engineer types some needed practice!

BTW, that's a great area to vacation & visit a live 2-6-6-2 running out of Hill City, not far from that area!? Which reminds me, I haven't visited in too many years--seems that was planned but Covid and the postponed NASG convention wouldn't let that happen!

I calculated the Rockville bridge in HO scale to over 28'.? ?No doubt somebody will prove me wrong.
