¿ªÔÆÌåÓýPhil, Great job on the diagram: very clear and helpful. As you mention, some railroads like the Monon ran long end first, especially on the road for safety purposes. Roger Nulton ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of pscandura via groups.io

Hi Kim - I've posted what I'm about to share with you previously to the group, but instead of making you hunt for it... ? See attached PDF with before and after wiring. ? Important to note, at least for my RS11, is the following: ? "Having performed DCC conversions in N Scale many time before, I immediately noticed that the wire color coding was reversed for DCC because the Left Rail (Fireman¡¯s Side) should be Black (not Red), and the Right Rail (Engineer¡¯s Side) should be Red (not Black). In fact, when I tested the loco on DC track, with the power pack wires matching the loco colors, i.e., Red (+) on Left Rail and Black (-) on Right Rail, the loco traveled in reverse. This suggested that either the loco was wired backwards from the factory, or it was intended to run Long Hood forward. To remain consistent with DCC standards, it would be necessary to reverse the wiring for DCC, as shown in..." the attached PDF. ? I am writing an article with the full story and photos for The Dispatch, but in the meantime I hope the PDF will be useful. If not, feel free to reach out to me... ? Phil Scandura Flagstaff, AZ ? |
