The big let downs were a couple of
companies that tried and always failed to make new entire train
sets, making lots of noise but mostly just hot air at best!? Then
we had several, one a Texas co that attempted to produce brass
locomotives.? Of course these were not clubs but just failed
businesses.?

Not to be picky, but I have many fond memories of the Glory
Days when various clubs all over the USA would take it upon
themselves to produce kits for the rest of us.? The kits were
adequate and served the purpose well.? Considering the time
involved, I doubt if any club made anything remotely close to
the minimum wage.? The feeling of "we are all in the same boat"
was stronger back then.? Club projects were a lot of fun for the
groups involved.

With lasers, 3D printing and computer-generated artwork
(decals), the individual modeler of today can do a lot more
things for himself (and others) than ever before.? ?Time and
technology marches on.........
