Best Crazy Horse Concert?

I hope this might be an interesting discussion for the new year.? Over the years, Neil has shared many CDs and Timeline Concerts featuring Crazy Horse.? This is a tough question, but which live recording with Crazy Horse is your favorite?? Is there one that you keep going back to??

Deep down in the Rust Bucket. 1990 Catalyst.

Live at the Fillmore East, 1970 is the one I listen to the most. I particularly like what Jack Nietzsche brings to the songs Down by the River and Cowgirl but also hearing Neil and Danny*s interplay.?

The one i'm playing most at the moment is the After the Water discs in NYA3. The film is epic too.

I started listening to Neil when I was 16 or 17 years old. And at that time Weld came out so that immediately became my favorite live recording. Especially the version of Cortez on Weld resonates with me. Last week I compared Weld to the Rustbucket album and that was a nice surprise. The sound quality and the overall feel of the recording seems to better than Weld, to my ears at last. So I guess that would be my new favorite live recording. Quite happy by the way with all the emerging timeline recordings!

Agree on Weld, it was also a 'gateway' record for me and I love the effects he strangles out of Old Black, think it's the Whizzer that makes it sound like techtonic plates are shifting. Love To Burn and Hurricane are unbelievable as well as the Cortez / Powderfinger combo.? I think Hurricane is from Buffalo and the video of it shows the sheer physicality of Neil's playing, he looks completely exhausted at the end of it.

Weld is great!!!??

One note that some may remember (but others may not) is that the "audio mix" on the home video of Weld was completed by Neil with Briggs, Hanlon, Mulligan and Nowland...while the CD release of Weld was produced by Neil with Briggs and Talbot.??If my memory serves me well, I believe there was an interview where Neil indicated that he preferred the Weld video mix to the Weld CD mix.? So, for us fans who loved some songs on the CD, perhaps we should more-closely check out the mix of those songs the Weld video version!

If you want to dig deep into the differences between the various versions of Weld, I recommend visiting this link: and search for Weld.?
?
It's not easy to navigate the table, but if I've read it correct 11 tracks are from the same source.
The following are the ones that differ:
The video version of Cinnamon Girl is taken from Buffalo 2/16, the version on the album and laser disc is from Landover 2/27.
Cortez the KIller on the video also is Buffalo 2/16, album and laser disc version is from Pittsburgh 2/17.?
Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black) video and laser disc is from Pittsburgh 2/17, album version is taken from Landover 2/27.
Mansion On The Hill laser disc version is Buffalo 2/16 and video and album version is from Landover 2/27.
Powderfinger is the only one with 3 sources. Laser disc version is Buffalo 2/16, video version is Pittsburgh 2/17 and album version is Landover 2/27.

I would really like to have the Weld movie in the next Archives box (or for that matter as a stand alone DVD release). Interesting that the movie and the album partly are from different sources. Makes me curious about the sound quality of the movie compared to the regular album release.

And throw in the Buffalo Weld show that was on The Archives site a year or two ago, as a bonus disc. ?

Transformer Man.?
