Greetings. I am new to the list, but not new to CSNY or Neil Young. I saw CSNY twice on their first reunion tour (1974 I think) and have seen Neil Young several times since. A good friend of mine who is a huge Neil fan had great seats for the Minneapolis show, but had to miss the show for a business trip. I am seeking some good quality 2002 shows (particularly Minneapolis!) to give him in consolation. I do not have any Neil or CSNY to trade (other than a few vinyl boots from the stone age) , but I do have some Springsteen especially the recent Asbury Park holiday shows if anyone is interested or I can do b&p. Please contact me privately if you can help. Thanks. Steve

THE GREAT TOP 10 ALBUMS COVER POLL - RESULTS (list content)
10 people answered to my poll (including myself). Thanks everyone but I had kinda hoped for a bigger response... ok, before I start to make a pathetic fool of myself even more, let's talk results.
On the Beach is the big winner with 7 votes. It's my personal favorite as well, also musically :-) ATGR got 6 votes. EKTIN, old ways and decade all got 5 votes. I have a question about decade: that isn't Neil on the cover, is it? Maybe Stills? SWA, TFA, Harvest Moon and Ragged Glory got 4 votes each.
A lot of people mentioned that they thought the artwork on Buffalo Springfield or CSNY albums were superior to Neil's solo album artwork. NO ONE mentioned AYP? Some people also named their 'worst covers top 5' (maybe an idea that might get some more responses? I'm up for it! :-) Everybody's rocking was mentioned a lot as the worst Neil artwork ever. Actually, that was in my top 10 because I think it's just hilarious. But then again, I have never heard the music :-)
Take care, Anne
P.S. I'd like to apologize to the person who started this 'top 5 albums'. I answered (offlist) thinking that he meant top 5 albums ever released. Of every band in the world. He must've thought I was a total idiot :-) Here's my Neil top 5:
On the Beach - in reviews, people always think this is such a down album. I don't see it that way. I believe it's more of an 'I've been down but I'm coming back up' album. Not that there isn't a desolate note ever heard. It's just that... you gotta feel some kinda good to make such a beautiful album. And the title cut is just... pure bliss. TTN - this is down. down, out and drunk. and if you've ever been there (or thereabouts), this is the perfect soundtrack. and if you're back up, it can still make you cry. also, it's got new mama! AtGR - just a beautiful collection of great Neil songs eldorado ep (that's also got some GREAT artwork) - I was pretty lucky to find this and it's really cool. Harvest - you say commercial and worn out, I say 'words', 'old man', 'alabama', 'are you ready for the country', 'the beautiful song that is hiding under that orchestra called a man needs a maid' (the song, not the orchestra)

Dave wrote: I'm having trouble getting Eac running on my new Dell. I get the message "no audio cd in drive" when I try to extract tracks. Discs are recognized in all other programs. Any help is greatly appreciated. It's my experience that sometimes you have to wait a while (a minute or so) before EAC actually wakes up and spots the CD, but after that there's no problem (BTW: I use Win95 OSR2). To my knowledge Neil has never electrified HOG, but there's a great flashy electric guitars version of it by Richrad Lloyd on the Tribute 2CD set "This Note's for you too!". Nominate CSNY to the HALL of FAME ??? Why not, they deserve it...
Greetings Friends, Last night as I was watching the sun set behind Mount Spur on the west shore of Cook Inlet, here in Alaska the idea crossed my mind...CSNY should be nominated for enshrinement into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a full band... Yes, Neil's in solo, Buffalo Springfield, CSN, The Byrds... There all in... But the mothership deserves to finally be put in there. They have had five complete tours that lasted over 33 years. They sold out shows in 1969 and they continue to sell out shows in 2002. I say they get my vote. Come on folks on the Lee-Shore and Rust. How about it. Lets start a movement to get the mothership in. Lets bring her home on course and give her the proper honor she deserves... Pray for Peace, Joe Ray

how about Neil and Crazy Horse in R & R hall of fame?
I saw that Joe Ray mentioned that CSNY should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I agree 100%
And, also, why not Neil and Crazy Horse? Neil and Crazy Horse have put out a lot of albums, gone on a lot of tours, played a lot of classic songs, and made millions of people happy over the years.
I say: give Ralph, Billy, Poncho and Danny's memory (RIP) a place in the hall of fame!

it wasn't klaus who sent you the news about the german rolling stone. it was me (paula, new to this board). well i didn't translate this particular quote, it was printed in english. "oh, that. there is a certain amount of cynicism in this song that seems to escape people." and later neil said, and this a translation, - come on, how stupid can you be, taking 'going after satan on the wings of dove' literally?! i feel like this is the point they tried to bring out in this RS issue: cynicism vs patriotism. personally i feel the cynicism in this song. back in my mind i see neil's heartbreakin' rendition of 'imagine' and doing 'long road' with eddie vedder. so there is no way i can see neil rolling with mr. bush. but this is just me.

Jordan asked: Are there any shows where Neil plays Heart of God plugged in and really grungy/distorted?
Yeah, and I had front row seats, right in the God circle!
PIECE OF CRAP
ps--speaking of God, there may just be one: we found out that we got a house we had made a bid on, and then the despised DOOK Minions of Satan lost. What a glorious day!

Help with Nils Essen, Germany '79 tree (NNC)
Hi all...I am a branch on this Nils tree that was initiated about 6 weeks ago or so.
After multiple e-mails to my "trunk" with no response, I have given up on him. Can someone please help me out with a trade or B&P for this show so that I can burn for my leaves? Also, if any others were stood up by this trunk (D. Forsythe) I will take you on as leaves as well. Sorry cannot take other stragglers at this time though, so no grovels please. Too much other stuff going on at the moment....
Thanks,
Jim no wonder we get a little loud
