Bracelets To Beat Breast Cancer :: WOW it hit a nerve
Like my mail box isn't full enough with IRF registration questions? No it's welcome I mean it!!
I thought about something a bit ago, while reading some personal mail from some of you, sharing stories off the list : ) Everyone on this list that knows 4 women 25 yrs or older will I said WILL be touched by breast cancer....dems da odds.... They have aids bracelets <Iwear one> They now have WTC9-11 bracelets but, did you know they have Breast cancer bracelets???? I was given one of the first prototypes made by a dear friend, the group has grown and the verity is BIG now so do a search here and find one for the women you love! The moneys raised goes into research and so on ALL of it!
PS this summer I lost mine, it fell off my wrist and I was crushed....a few days later I noticed the NEIL YOUNG disc on my key chain was gone too and I almost cried, I had had it since 1997. Seems as if I was on some bad loosing streak! One afternoon I was moving the car seat back for a tall tall friend and WOW there was my bracelet in a cravace....I was ecstatic! Then thought about my Neil tag and got sad...thinking I would almost rather have found that, then I realized perhaps this is a GOOD OMAN.

David- Nice interpretation! Given the circumstances under which the album was completed, I believe you are onto something. (the movie will clear this up for you) Of course, Tweedy has developed an interest in HAM Radio operation and seemingly enjoys the late night chatter and noise of it (hence the odd noise/voices throughout the album) The 6 disc Alpha Romeo Tango compilation includes several NATO and other soundbites of the phonetic alphabet- so it must have been on Tweedy's mind and such. What a great record. What a great band. Laters rob Message: 4 Date: Tue, 24 Sep 2002 12:03:23 -0500 From: David Adams <afomw@...> Subject: Wilco Week (nnc)

Hopefully my new username is coming through to Rust. If so, it represents my present habit of wearing mocassins allthough that'll soon change as I don the cowboy boots for doing more-and-more trail rides. Hopefully, it won't get to the point like it did last Spring, where I couldn't tell the diff between a filly's rearend and that of a cowgirl ;>)

Second Law of Thermodynamics
The energy involved in the feeding and watering cattle, and the amount land used for grazing is an entropic destructive system. That's to say, you get less energy out when you kill the animal than all the energy you put into raising it... Yep! The energy that's converted to heat is a lower order energy. You know your Thermodynamics well, Grasshopper..... BTW, that's the same LAW that proves the theory of evolution is impossible, fyi...

Organic foods, the environment and you (NNC)
The energy involved in the feeding and watering cattle, and the amount land used for grazing is an entropic destructive system. That's to say, you get less energy out when you kill the animal than all the energy you put into raising it. If all the grain, water and land were used directly to feed people it would be a highly efficient and ecologically sound system that has less impact on the environment. In doing so we would be more aligned and in tune with ecological cycles enabling the planet to heal itself from the impact of our addiction to fossil fuels and other toxic post-modern lifestyles we get brainwashed into. Organic farming helps even more because it taps into and uses these powerful ecological forces to balance and counter-balance growth systems in accordance to the cycles and needs of the environment. The fact is that organic farming replemishes rather than depletes the natural resources of the land. Think about it.... whenever someone eats beef they are destroying just a little bit more of the ecosystem that supports human life on the planet Earth. The fact is that you help save the human race by eating less meat. Just another solid, intelligent reason to *Go vegetarian!* Makes eco-sense to me. I cannot substantiate that statistic, but it's a common argument used for calling for a reduction in meat consumption. My opinion is that the argument has merit. Dave wrote: I had always wondered how the band came up with the title of the record. i wonder if the movie sheds any light the meaning of all this? Well, not to ruin the movie for you, but I saw "I am Trying to Break Your Heart" last evening. And.... the title of the album isn't explained. : ) I enjoyed the movie though. Great soundtrack! fred tells us about his birthday: went down at the Italian restaurant yesterday at lunch-time. I told the waitress that me and Bruce Springsteen were born on the same day, Sept. 23rd, 1949, and, not only that, but we also both can do a forward flip with the only difference being that Bruce doesn't need tumbling mats to land on, two spotters, a springboard and a gymnastics stationary wooden horse to pull it off, like I do. She said "Yeah, landing would be the hard part!" ;>)
------ well fred, at least you didn't start singin a song about mary. or, ask her if she felt like mary. or, what she thinks mary felt like... if you start doin that we might stop reading your posts :)

I had advance ordered my copy of RNS on DVD back in August from Amazon. Their system had been telling me to expect delivery sometime around October 8. Since I was ordering more than a month in advance, having to wait a few extra days past the 9/24 wasn't going to kill me.
So imagine my surprise when the UPS man just delivered my RNS DVD not but ten minutes ago! I had also ordered S+G on DVD which was included. I can't wait to sit down and watch these gems but I gotta wait for the kids to finish watching their Monsters, Inc. which they have yet to grow tired of (actually I kind of like that one as well - guess I'm just a kid too).

"Crime in the City" is the song that made me a fan. I had always like stuff from Harvest and RNS, but that song made me become a real listener.
Still one my of favorite songs of any song from everybody I listen to.

Mike's story prompts my own FA scalping tale. (Although I was not moving to front row!!!)
I also got stuck (last minute) with 2 lawn tix and was told by more than one 'red-shirted' pavilion employees that trying to get rid of them was illegal. (despite the fact that I only wanted face value). (eh?)
However, I did get pointed (and golf carted) in the right direction by said folks (shhhhh!) and got $20 apiece eventually (the first people who said they'd pay, some offered to take them for free).
Lots of combing the back lot involved and feeling like a twit of scalper for asking people if they already had their tix (as the show was underway). Like I was doing it for cash and wouldn't have rather been inside?! traitor!?
Just glad to have gotten what I did for them. But I also felt like a criminal, and was afraid of getting kicked out, tickets taken, etc. Silly police policy. It's just Econ. Luckily there were nice, understanding folks who were very helpful and I didn't have to eat them.
PS Saw my first MORE BARN shirt hanging out by the front gate. "More barn!" slipped out of my mouth before I knew it, but I was stressed as I hadn't gotten rid of my tix yet. Should've said Hello as you must've been a Rustie couple but, I apologize.... "belated hello & NICE SHIRT!"
Hope everyone enjoyed it!
Pleased to have known the words to Dukes of Hazard, btw. Knew that'd come in handy one day! Yee-haw!

IRF Reg info once again and the cost breakdown
HI All..... I have gotten a few emails asking "Who do I make the money order out to?" "Who do I send it to?" and why the jump in the cost of registration fee. Once again the link is posted below. The cost was agreered upon by the "IRF COMMITTEE" "how is the committee formed?" I answered a post asking for people who wanted to help..sign up so I DID! I did this because I love IRF it's more then the BSB to me and I wanted to help in any way I could, I was there last year when people started to grumble about some issues.. I was asked to do the registration and said sure, why not. It is a committee, just that, not some dictatorship.
Many phone calls negations and emails all over the place go into making this happen. ANYWAY The cost was calculated due to Saratoga Springs telling we needed to buy "X" amount of dinners to cover the rental cost of the jam area we came upon this cost. Books can be looked over for cost at IRF If anyone wishes. In the past we had a Rustie play Santa Claus and fund a nice chunk for us. Passing the savings on to all. This wasn't done this year so that caused some increase. As for whom to make the MONEY ORDER payable to......same as sending it to, ME! Jill Seagraves 85 Inwood Avenue Upper Montclair, NJ 07043
And NO I am not using this for my sons tuition to college, his tuition is WAY more..... See you at IRF Jill
I hope this mail settles the questions once and for all. PEACE! Jill
Dinner is $25.00 (SS is charging slightly more) which pays for the venue, 10 goes for badges, firewood, equipment rental, etc etc etc <Last year we had several amps from some rusties, who won't be there this year, so more $ on renting> I'll miss that person and not because of his amps.....his wife too!

Hi Dennis,
Crime in the City is one of my top 5 all time Neil songs. It is absolutely gut-wrenching. As a fatherless child and someone who has rarely had any fixed place in the world, it speaks to me very directly. My favorite version of the song is the Crazy Horse version, especially from the Weld tour. As I watched and heard (more like physically FELT) the music at McNichols arena at Neil & the Horse's show that night, I remember feeling like I was having a broken bone rebroken so that it might set properly....it was ecstatically painful, and somehow made me feel like I could overcome my own pain. I appreciate your more literally sociological reading of the song, which I feel too.....I guess if we feel the music deeply enough, we are part of all the tragedies represented in that song.

(NNC) Wacky Tabacky & World Leaders
In an earlier post today, Will speculates what a better place this world would be if Dubya, Tony Blair and Saddam shared a spliff.... Just visualizing those cronies passing around a fat one makes me laugh my butt off ! Imagine this, after a tough day of negotiating (threatening is more like it), all those head honchos are in serious need of some attitude adjustment. Tony Blair says to Dubya, my good man, would you be kind enough to pass that over here? Dubya responds, hold on to yer britches, Blair Buddy, I just got in some new stuff in from our overseas connection, Saddam, so gimme a chance to roll another one. Saddam just can't help himself and blurts out, yeah, you posers thought that your south of the border weed was killer til I turned you onto the really good sticky stuff that I import from Afghanistan ! Twenty minutes later, with the air thick with a lingering white haze, Dubya slowly says, with great difficulty, man, I don't know about you guys, but I'm really hungry, so let's order a pizza. Tony and Saddam each say yeah, that's a great idea. Come to think of it, if we skip that boring meeting tomorrow (we'll just announce we came to an agreement, details of which we'll make public later, dude), we can stay holed up here and really take a load off !! Now back to the real world.... 8~)
