I'd just like to say thanks to everyone for the great time I had at Farm Aid this year. The biggest thanks to Dr.Concert for getting the tickets. Then to Deb for putting together the Max and Erma dinner. It was so nice to have the chance to meet so many Rusties and trade stories. What a great bunch of people to be with! I'm already looking forward to the next time.

Stupid Bridge School Ticket Question...
Hi All,
I'm a fan who was trying to get ONE ticket to the Saturday BSB this morning from TicketMaster online (all my friends all think top 40 is cool and they are obviously stupid). Anyway, after the usual runaround, I got offered a seat at the very back of the 200s like row V, just in front of the Lawn. I was pretty shocked that all the seats in front would be totally gone in like 2 seconds, but I figured that the amazing lineup probably accounted for that.
I declined since I didn't want to sit all the way in the back (and it is a 6 hour drive to the show). But I tried back for a better seat a little while later and got one in the 200s row G, which I bought.
After looking on Ebay at all the ticket broker slime, it appears that *nobody* got any seats in the 100's. Does anybody know what's up with that? Perhaps this is standard stuff; I'm a BSB newbie (although I've always wanted to go!)
Thanks!

<snip> Jim Satisfied with a fish on the line Jim, I admire your sense of humor and resolve. I would not have been able to have calmed down enough to write a post so soon after the trauma if I had gone through what you did this morning. I would still be punching the walls out. BSB 2001 blues I had some ticket panics. I went online at 10 AND got on my cell phone to ticketbastards(tb) at the same time to insure I scored one pair of tickets. My computer crashed in the midst of my purchase online for lawn. All that was left on the phone were lawn. The online says if it crashes it dumps your purchase. Well guess what... I got 2 pairs of tickets in the mail. So I call tb, they say rip up the tickets and mail em back. I say ok. Then my friend says she has some friends that may want to go. I decide not to mail back the seats. Assuming tb won't credit the tickets till they get them back. Duh!! We get there. They won't let 2 of us in, I've driven down from SAC. blah blah blah .. I wind up getting to sit 2nd tier stage right of the sound board. About third row. Perfect view. Perfect sound. Altho' Shoreline sound is excellent anywhere. And yeh I felt guilty that my friend let me sit in the seat, but I got over it, kind of quickly actually ... ; > My point .. Every cloud has a "silver and gold" lining. I'm sure you'll enjoy the show one way or the other. slim justice partner in crime --why do i keep fuckin' up? __________________________________________________________________ The NEW Netscape 7.0 browser is now available. 2002 blues:
Woke up this morning, turned the computer on. . . . All set to fight the Sunday morning 10:00 am ticket-purchasing dragon,
Woke up this morning, turned the computer on . . . . Clicked on the browser, "no server found." Called my isp, heard a recording that "if you're on the west coast, the network is down, we're working on the problem. . ."
No! Not on the Sunday morning that Bridge tickets go on sale!
Network still down at 9:56.
Picked up the phone and started dialing our favorite ticket service. "All circuits are busy."
Strange feeling of deja vu. This is how I once bought tickets, back in the last century. It's been so long, I've become happily self-dependent on Internet ticket mechanisms. Struggling with them as they've gotten better over the years. Still a source of frustration, but nothing compared to having to explain over and over to some agent at Bass what date and show I wanted, while choice seats were disappearing.
Oh well. Fine. Hopefully Sheila will come through once again.
Long live the Bridge School!

los lobos "cinnamon girl" grovel
Hi all-
Several years back I attended a Los Lobos show at a festival in Pensacola, Florida. The band was scheduled for a 90 minute slot, but due to another act cancelling their set, Los Lobos played a blistering 180 minute show. They closed with a "Cinnamon Girl" encore.
I'm after a nicely recorded Los Lobos show where they performed this song (preferably soundboard or DAT audiience). If anyone can help I will happily trade.
Many thanks!

Help required from a USA pal!
Just won some Springsteen in Miami tickets on eBay. The auctioneer will ONLY mail to a US address. Would someone be willing to accept them to they're address and then forward them to me in UK. I would of course pay for postage - or compensate with a couple of shows on CDR.
Thanx in advance,
Rob H

Re: Sound quality of TOTW tree: 1/15/73
Subject: Sound quality of TOTW tree: 1/15/73
I don't know, folks. I got my copy yesterday, and was inspired to put it on after Neil's set at Farm Aid tonight. I'm seven songs into it now and VERY pleased. It's clean of clicks and pops, and I think the sound quality is quite good for a 1973 audience recording. Maybe I haven't reached the noise problem that's caused the controversy, or maybe I'm just not enough of an audiophile to notice it.<<<<<<<<<<<< Where is this alleged noise, anyway? I just listened to this again all the way through, and I didn't hear any problems. Kerry Alone at the microphone

Missing Farm Aid...grovel...
Rusties!
So I come home from a very long but awesome Paul McCartney concert Saturday night/Sunday morning (he apparently played "She's Leaving Home" for the first time live...ever?) only to wake up in the morning and find that my VCR did NOT tape Farm Aid as I programmed it to. In fact, it didn't tape at all.
So I missed my annual dose of Farm Aid. Does anyone know if they re-boradcast the show? If not, is there any chance someone could hook me up with a (VHS!!) copy for B&P??
Thanks! Looking forward to hearing more stories!

Hi all...while i too hate the ticket monopoly i've used them a lot online...while they rip u for a "convenience charge" i've almost always been able to get tix to events i wanted...it's now 11:50 AM Pacific time and i went to see if i could get tix to bsb and they were still available (lawn only). I can't go this year. Also, given my expeerience buying Stones tix for their San Diego and Anaheim shows, they release seats for sale in a dribble out fashion...ya just gotta keep checking...I ended up with good floor seats for Stones in San Diego weeks after they went on sale! Sometimes when they go to process, someone's credit card doesn't authorize and that might be one source of the added availablility of tix on top of what they hold back...so, the moral is....KEEP TRYING.

hey rusties,
Caught my first Farm Aid yesterday. Amazing. I can't believe I saw Willie and Neil play together! Willie's set after the cameras shut off was like nothing I've ever seen. Anyone know what that crazy ass jam he did was without any singing? Not the one that the outro that the band played as he exited but the jam that he did with the band. Gillian Welch just blew my mind. That sound man should be shot for not having the guitars up during I Want to Sing That Rock 'n' Roll but it was cool to hear an acappella version. :) I couldn't help but think of fRed Sun's post a few days past about how lucky those going were to see Gillian Welch and Neil on the same stage...then at the end them singing near the same mike. Then she came out and sang with Willie and the end! David Rawlings is great. Kenny Wayne with Double f'in Trouble! I still dislike Toby Keith more than I think I've ever disliked an artist, but he song about smokin' weed with Willie was funny, especially with Willie playing on it! I was moved by Dave Matthews. So freaking good. Any ideas as to why John Mayer was on the back of one of the shirts? Was he supposed to play and backed out?
I was just looking on Usenet on the bootlegs newsgroup and there's a dude who got all the satellite feed of all the artists who played uninterrupted. Any Rusties get this? If so, I'd love to trade, and I'll spread it as far as I can. Any audio tapers get great audience recordings? Please pardon my enthusiasm, but if I was any happier or excited about how good yesterday was I'd be twins! :)
Well, gotta go shower and get cleaned up to go see Willie again tonight at Penn State. Any Rusties going? Anyone going with a recorder...? :0
Always your pal, Adam!

MACCA in Milwaukee last night
Nice, almost three hour show. The sing alongs were pretty cool with the sell-out crowd.
I noticed they had some nice big pro mics up on stands at the front of the soundboard. They must be taping all the shows???

Thanks to all of you kind rusties who explained why some of my VCD's would not play. Couple of consumer notes: Ed G stated the Apex-1200 works with all formats. Regretfully, no more--they discontinued VCD support on that model a month ago. I wound up keeping the 3rd DVD player I bought. The Panasonic RV32 works great w/all my VCD's. At $109 at Circuit City, the price was not bad. I found alot of helpful info at www.vcdhelp.com
Thanks again for everyone's expertise, Stuart

ticketbastards!!!!! grovel for bridge tix
hello rustworld, well, every year bridge time rolls around and I get the screwjob once again. This makes four years in a row. The first ear I tried calling and I was calling the number that 411 gave me and it turned out it was a carpet wharehouse, the second year I waited in line for about 8 hours and when ticket time came the screen froze up, the third year I paid for someone else's ticket by mistake, and now this year, I went three days ago and asked the guy who would be running the tickets for bridge at my local tower if they would do a lottery and he said that there was no way around it this year and that there was no point in waiting in line. Then that bastard doesn't do a lottery and I get screwed again! I am telling you I am bridge cursed, I don't know what its going to take to get rid of this if there are any rusties who know of any voodoo to take off the curse please let me know. Also let me be the first to grovel for tickets. I really need three seats for saturday and one seat for sunday. I know this is a little early but if there is any kind soul who bought seats and is unsure of whether or not they will be going please keep me in mind. Thanks in advance joe from the rusted fringe sitting patiently with his fingers crossed
