Sad news. I know there are lots of fans of the current Wilco lineup on this list but to me they were much, much better with Bennett and Ken Coomer in the lineup, as I saw them many many times from 1997-2000. RIP.

Well, I voted blu ray, rather surprisingly...meaning I will go that route..one day... once the bugs are all out and I can afford the upgrade to my audio visual system (new TV, BR player, amp and surround sound speakers, so needs some careful 'selling' to my wife).

I remember buying my first cd thinking...well, I'll try just one to see if it's any good. Now I have 100s. :-)

Oh well. Then Play On!

Cancelled vol I

Mike Cordova

Please let me start this post by saying that I am happy for everyone looking forward to the NYA vol I and I hope everyone gets great enjoyment out of it.

I pre-ordered the Blu-ray version through Amazon and started having second thoughts and canceled the order. I may get it sometime later, I don't know. My reasons:

1) I just a few months ago bought Fillmore and Massey Hall; it really irks me that the set includes these at greatly increased prices.

2) I'm really bothered by having to re-purchase so many tracks I've already purchased many times over (vinyl, decade vinyl, decade cd, cd albums, etc.) I really really wish he would have simply remastered the albums separately and put the unreleased material in a separate package for those that just want the otherwise unavailable tracks.

3) I'm not excited by the video content very much at all. Generally when there is video content included in an album, I'll watch it at most once a year and usually once in a lifetime. Maybe it's just me, but I like -listening- to music.

4) I abhor the concept of easter eggs; I just can't stand it. If I'm shelling out $300 for a set of music, please tell me up front where everything is and what it is I'm buying.

5) I've followed the discussions on Thrasher's Wheat led by Archives Guy and all the techno-babble discussion items frankly baffle me. I'm not an audio-visual techie and don't want to be. I just want to play the damn thing. I also don't care for being pushed into a new format. I mean I even have a Blu-ray drive on my computer. I even watched a movie once in Blu-ray format. Ho hum. Netflix raised the monthly fee by $1 for people ordering blu-rays so I opted out. DVD's are just fine for movies IMO.

6) Sharry W. and Thrasher are way up there as far as fans go, I mean out of all of Neil's fans I would put them both in the top 99.9 percentile of all fans. Sharry has contributed so many heart-felt articles to the Broken Arrow fanzine and Thrasher has brought fans together worldwide to his Neil Young site Thrasher's Wheat. Yet both of them have preview disc 00's in their house sitting there with nothing to play it on. Doesn't it say something when fans at that level can't even play what Neil is releasing?

I may eventually buy NYA I but I'm not into it right now. But, like I said above, I am happy for those of you looking forward to the set and I hope it brings you much joy. I'm looking forward to the reviews as they come in on Rust.

Not a leg to stand on. This is no different that making a CD for the car, or converting to MP3 for your iPod. Perfectly legal if you don't share it. Can you share it with someone who's already purchased the Archives? Questionable.

So here's what I'll do. I'll download the mp3s and burn archives disks for the car! BUT, I'll be adding stuff...

The LRR Version of Disk0 will have the following additions:

I Ain't Got The Blues - Elektra Demos, from personal collection.
It's My Time - Mynah Birds, from the recent boxed set.
I'll Wait Forever - Mynah Birds, from personal collection.

This is the Disk0 I think we want. Right?

nils and southern man...

Dr. Squane

in the radio spot yesterday with Nils,he said while they were getting ready to record southern man,Neil and the rest of the band were on the porch taking a break, while Ralph and he stayed to work on the song, since Nils was freaking out about handling the piano part....he had experience playing polkas and demonstrated on the radio with an acoustic guitar how it originally was supposed to go,and then how he double timed it into a polka type schlebazzle....he and Ralph jammed for a long time like that, and when Neil and the others came in,Neil said "what the fuck is that?"
Nils said,"well, that's southern man with a polka beat..."
Neil said "that's it! that's the solo!...we'll start slow,double time the solo,etc..."
so i thought that was interesting,it definitely made the song...
at the end of the show he played a nice acoustic solo version of 'don't cry no tears'....it was lovely...i'm gonna try and find the link so you can hear the whole interview online...

Blu Ray Error Message - Help needed - NNC.. not even Archive content :-(

David Plusnet

"Fail to enable HDCP. Please switch to analog output (VGA, D-Sub) and try
again. (ERROR CODE = 0107)"

So, I changed the DVI cable for a VGA cable and.... nothing.

I'm just wondering if the drive is not compatible (ie. Not 2.0 profile or BD
live enabled) Don't know what make of drive it is, there is nothing on it to
tell me.

I get the Shakey Pictures logo and the first message off the disc saying
that on slower systems, the content may take a long time to load, then this
error message appears.

Any pc gurus out there that can save me tearing my hair out.... wait.... I

Re: The Archives decision has finally been made

Karen and I bought a Panasonic BD35 last October and we've been watching Neil's preview disc without any major problems. We get a little bit of jumping when in the filing cabinet and trying to listen to each track and at the same time rip through the photos but the quality of the pictures and press clippings are excellent.

P.S. Has anyone seen Sid?? :)

Is there a consensus top blue-ray player out there? I was looking at a Samsung player but the reviews section on Amazon was filled with horror stories of downloading updates that froze the machine.

Wasn't interested in PS3 but if that is considered the best, maybe that is the way to go. Anyone recommend a non-ps3 player?

Thanks!
