Asa, I'll work on getting the rest of the files converted to Google Drive and web site links updated.? My main concern was the big image files, if they would work with a direct link. Mark KD0QYN

Re: PiGate RMS
Mark Griffith
The PiGate system is the complete OS image, not a single software program.? It consists of the integration of several software packages that already exist in the Raspberry Pi OS along with some PHP programs for the web interface and some custom shell scripts for the administration interface. The receiving and sending of email through the Winlink system can be done without the administration interface.? My system here at home runs 24/7, sending and receiving email through Winlink, and I rarely access the admin interface.? In fact, everything could be done from the command line if you knew the Linux commands to get stuff done.? I developed the admin interface to make it easier for hams without extensive knowledge of Linux to use the device.? Once I go through the initial setup, all I use is an email app on my smart phone which sends an email to the PiGate, which in turn sends it through Winlink to the destination.? Incoming email is the reverse.? It's like me sending this email to you, once I press send, it all happens in the background and it just works. The integration is kinda tricky and can't be done without manually adding the correct software packages and making changes to configuration files and things like that.? So if I want update the OS or the kernel, I need to rebuild the whole thing again.? Kinda a pain in the rear, but I can't think of another way. Once you download the image and put it on an SD card, you have all the
special PHP and shell scripts that can be viewed so it's really open
source. So the short answer is it can't be done using GitHub. Mark KD0QYN

Re: PiGate RMS

Jack, I appreciate that.? Looks like I might be able to get this all working again using Google Drive.? The direct download links may get an error about not being able to scan the file, but the download should continue.? It's not the optimal setup like before, but it's the best I can do without paying $20 or more a month. I've tried a number of different download sites, and they all either won't allow large files, or they can't do a direct download link, or they cost too much.? So many are geared toward the young folks sharing videos and music from their phones.? I guess that is the market today.? No more simple old FTP download sites. Thanks again. Mark KD0QYN

Asa, On the other hand, here's a link that should work.? You'll get an error about not being able to scan the file, but you should be able to continue on with the download.? This is a ZIP file so you'll have to unzip it to get the image. Please let me know how this works. Mark KD0QYN

The grid square warning is benign.? If you want to cancel it, edit the file /usr/local/etc/wl2k.conf and at the bottom enter you grid square as indicated: # # Gridsquare locator gridsquare=EM48lk? <-- your grid square Mark KD0QYN

Allstar Node Progress
I've been building my first Allstar node using an RPi4B, CM-108 fob, and a BF-888 (clone) so I thought I'd post a picture of where I'm at. Since this is my first attempt, I literally built it on a breadboard so I have easy access. Still having trouble getting a single 5V supply to power both the Pi and the HT. When I tried using the 5V 3A convertor shown I kept getting "Low Voltage" warnings from the Pi. Right now I'm dropping the 5.1V converter output using two diodes for the HT and using an "official" Pi 5.1V power module. I looked at using buck converters but I didn't like what i read about some dangerous things with the output voltage if the input happens to drop below spec. My next step is install Hamvoip. Wish me luck...73 - Scott/KK6DZ
