So how did everyone like Event #20?? This one was much more fun for me than the last couple in which I found conditions to be very poor. Today I started out on 20 and was pleased to hear a few stations although the band was very noisy.? I made a couple of qsos early on.? I've got to say, I did not hear many stations calling cq from here at my QTH in northern CA.? I was able to snag some RGs as an SWL, however.??
?
I tried 15 and 10 meters but heard no stations over there.? I tried cqing a bit, and the reverse beacon network told me 15 was open -- I was even heard in Costa Rica and Germany.? But no one answered my RG cqing.? I heard nothing on 10, and the RBN did not register my calling.
?
After 2300, it got strangely quiet.? I didn't hear any RG stations although I heard a couple of ordinary hams just calling cq on 20.? I tried cqing but no answers.? Tried 15, same thing.? Tried again on 20 -- nothing. I started wondering if I had the event times wrong and if maybe the event ended at 2300 Z. Finally, at about 2330, I heard a strong signal at 14.054 calling, "CQ RG."? It was K0RO from MS. We worked, and I was happy.? The event hadn't ended.? I tuned up and down the RG band segment and heard no one else.? Went back to K0RO for another qso.? And that's how the last half hour of the event went for me.? I heard a couple other stations on 20 during that last half hour and copied maybe one RG from one of them.? But I kept going back to K0RO for more qsos and RGs.? Fun.? I'd end a qso with him, move up the band, call CQ, and when no one responded, I'd tune back to where K0RO was CQing and work him again, over and over until 2359.? I ended up copying about 30 RGs and sent about eight.? Thanks for the three qsos I made.
?
And thanks again to Drew for organizing things.? 73,? Larry, kf6ncx
