I WANT TO ADD MY VOICE TO THOSE LIKING THE 2 HOUR FORMAT.? I THINK A FEW MORE GROUPS LIKE 10 GROUPS/EVENT-HOUR WOULD BE NICE BUT LIMITING THE EVENT TO 2 HOURS IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT. I HOPE WE CAN CONTINUE WITH THE 2 HOUR FORMAT AND HOPE MORE FOLKS WILL JOIN IN THE FUN THAT ARE NOT INTERESTED IN THE 9 HOUR GRIND.

I HAD MY DOUBTS ABOUT THE SHORTER EVENT WITH LIMITED GROUPS BUT BOTH WERE A NICE CHANGE AND HOPE WE CONTINUE WITH THE SHORTER EVENTS.

Thanks, Larry.

I also liked the 2-hour "limited" sprint with the 10-group goal. I cycled through my groups about three times to make sure they were all QSL'd by other stations. I operated a lot like I do in the longer "unlimited" events: I often send CQ RG while listening to an adjacent station so I can pause to copy their traffic, or occasionally jump over and respond to his CQ. But It was nice having to meet a definite goal of 20 TX points. We will try it again some time.

Someone has suggested raising the goal to 40 TX points (20 code groups per TX list) for the 2-hour event. Obviously that would thin out the top tier. Currently about half of participants managed to get all 10 of their groups confirmed for the maximum 20 tx points.

Next event will be in February; probably the longer unlimited format. In the mean time...

January is Straight Key Month! I hope you'll all take part. See the SKM/K3Y page at

I've gotta say I had fun today with Event #8.? I was able to get rid of all 10 of my RandomGrams, which felt good.? We call this an event, or maybe a contest.? But it really seems to me to be a kind of CW practice.? You get sending practice, copying practice.? But instead of practicing with a computer, you are practicing on the air with other ops.? Makes it fun!
