Just looking to aquire a PRM4740 Caracal, anyone have any info on the
thing before I spend my hard earned?
I understand that programming can be done from the channel selector
switch, what exactly is the procedure, I want to try it before I buy it.

Thanks for the reply, I have printed it off to take when I go and see
the guy with the radio next week.
My intention is to use it primarily on 4m as there are quite a few
people on 70mhz locally.
I take it that the radio will only program in 25khz steps, i.e.
70.400,70.425,70.450 etc.
Our local 6m repeater uses 50.790, so it may be no good for this.
Do you know if the receiver will unmute without the 150hz tone being
present? some mil radio's will not unmute, so obviously talking to
people who don't have a mil set is a no-go.
Cheers for the information, hopefully I will buy the set, assuming it
works!!, if anyone has a service manual kicking around, I would
appreciate a copy just in case.
