Re: TRA 921 Speaker Pic

Are those Speaker/Mic connectors available? Can anyone tell me where if so and what they are?
Not a connector/Plug I have although I do have quite a few...

Re: TRA 921 Speaker Pic

Correct, it is desiccant.? There is one in the radio just like it.

The one that shuts down your power supply like has a shorted capacitor or a dead transistor.

Now I need to identify the pinout on the Speaker/Mic connector and I can make some progress...Also measure the output power/Frequency and modulation...

Re: New Syncal Owner

Bruno and others,

Thank You for the help.

I uploaded a picture of the unit with some accessories. One speaker works with the unit although audio output is very low. The other speaker/Microphone?? causes my current controlled Power Supply to fault. I will upload more pictures and perhaps someone can say what that device is intended for. It looks like perhaps a speaker and Microphone combination.
The radio does seem to work somewhat as I can hear noise in the speaker that changes with the antenna connected and when placed in the tune mode I can hear a tone in another receiver.

Hello Marty,

Looking at the picture, the radio you have is a TRA-921 (Syncal).

You can find the technical manual here (in three parts : TRA921_tech_1of3, TRA921_tech_2of3, TRA921_tech_3of3) :

Nice little radio...

One design flaw in my opinion : the +V Bat available on the audio sockets is not controlled by the ON/OFF switch of the radio set.
As the loudspeaker has an internal audio amplifier, if you leave it connected to the radio it will draw your batteries flat in a few days...

Re: New Syncal Owner

The 906 & the 921 were similar radios, and may have used the same accessories & battery box. But the Squadcal was xtal control, the Syncal is synthesized.
