yes, for rather less than that ?250 that Julian mentioned for a
pukka whip, I suspect you could get a local machine company to
make you up something? pretty fancy that will do the job!
And of course, the actual whippy bit - the copper sections with a
draw cord are pretty common.?? I've got a load for the much
earlier A40 and A41 manpacks - about 10' long.?? Of course they
have the wrong base, and that's the bit that needs some thought.

In my general collection of stray bits and pieces I found a few
sections of an ex-military sectional antenna made of copper plated
steel. Two of these plug together to make a 2.5m whip and the
bottom end of the larger section has a coarse thread molded onto
it, which just happens to fit tightly into the whip socket on the
radio, so I've decide to go with that initially as it's a quick
and simple solution.
I'll look at making up a tilting base for the whip at a later
date.
