Re: Possible New Haplogroup
Hi Ed, ? There are three relevant processes here: ? (1) Quality controls on individual SNPs. The quality required for variants to be entered on the haplotree is higher than the quality of the

Re: Possible New Haplogroup
Ed, I thought you said that the varianti was shared by two kits. If that is true, and the marker is not on the tree, the most reasonable inference is that FTDNA have not deemed it phylogenetically

Re: Possible New Haplogroup
Vincent, I agree that FTDNA does not use every variant for haplogroups. However, to say that if it was reliable it would already be on the tree is not correct, in that a variant has to be shared

Re: Possible New Haplogroup
Not all ¡°non-matching variants¡± are suitable candidates for use as phylogenetic markers. So I would not make that assumption. FTDNA evaluates the performance and reliability of the markers, so if

R-Z156 Haplogroup Results @ 23andMe
Hello everyone, About a month ago, I logged into my 23andMe account and was surprised to see that they had reassigned my paternal haplogroup assignment from R-Z156 to R-M405 (aka R-U106). I reached

Re: #AncientDNA - Merovingian period in Flanders (Belgium) #AncientDNA
Hi Shane, Yes, indeed, it is entirely possible to check the status of an aDNA sample for SNPs of known downstream clades of R-FGC17460. This can be done from the BAM file (hg19 or hg38?), or by
