Re: V19 VHF/UHF

The X6100 is a HF + 6 meter QRP transceiver, it does not have VHF/UHF capabilities.? As Dave pointed out, you need a transverter, a separate piece of equipment, to operate on the VHF/UHF bands with the x6100.? Trying to transmit on a band not included in the hardware capabilities could possibly damage the radio.? A firmware upgrade alone does not give the radio the capability to operate in bands that are outside of the hardware design limits.? If you are looking for an all band radio, the X6100 is not it by itself.? Look for a Yaesu FT-991A or equivalent to get that kind of coverage.
The X6100 is a great little radio and performs well within its design limitations, I have one and have worked Alaska, Cayman Is., Spain and Hawaii on SSB using a VG4 multi-band vertical on 10 watts.? The only thing I would like to see is FM Repeater capabilities on 6 and 10 meters, (ability to program offsets and pl tones).
Hope this helps.
