Information from International...

Here are a few things that the International Board of Directors announced at
their recent meeting (March 8-9):

-- The Board enthusiastically agreed to hold the 2007 International
Convention and Competition in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

-- As recommended by the Education Direction Committee, the Board
acknowledged that there are 10 wild card quartets eligible each year for the
international quartet semifinals, and agreed not to substitute additional
wild card quartets if a quartet withdraws from the contest, effective with
the 2003 international competition in Phoenix. This decision will make the
quartet contest experience more enjoyable for the audience and more palatable
for the judges by potentially reducing the length of the contest.

-- The Board established a Director Education Coordinators standing committee
to oversee present and future director education. The committee will create
learning opportunities and tools for all directors, and oversee and update
the Director Certification Program.

-- The Board reviewed member input from surveys and correspondence regarding
dual membership. Based on the results, the Board responded by implementing a
dual membership policy allowing members to join more than one chorus in the
same region. Policy remains the same allowing members the option of competing
with each chorus of which they are members, as long as the choruses are not
competing in the same contest.

-- Effective immediately, the Board voted to change the required number of
members to charter and recharter to 15 members (from 20 members) plus the
director. Members who are members of more than one chapter will be counted
for in all chapters for chartering and rechartering purposes.
