Re: Increasing Desnity on Negatives with QTR and QCDN
Did you calibrate your times with stouffer 31 step or did you print a 31 stepwedge and calibrate with It?
I mean to get the printing times. In calvins guide he finds time with stouffer31.
Thank

Re: Horizontal lines
Eric,
Looking at your original images the bands look approximately 1inch apart which is the head size.
So my guess is that you are seeing the variation of the inkjets -- probably normal manufacturing

I found the same thing about the dMax. However, it printed perfectly when
I followed Calvin’s instructions for the 7 layer monochrome. I arrived at
this by actually making a test with layer one to

Re: Increasing Desnity on Negatives with QTR and QCDN
Hello, Clay. I have printed a step wedge with your calibration file and the Dmax is 1.60 i can't get more than that. I suspect that my film can't handle more ink. Or maybe your file was at 50% curve.

This is the carbon approach I've used for years now:

my cartridges are super low and it's time to prep a new fill, which is why I'm looking to try a new configuration. How have you configured your cart positions?

Thanks, all. All your answers will give my tech something to work with.
Mind you, multiple times since being QTR-centric I have had to go in and change rewrite permissions on file folders but in that

Re: Horizontal lines
Question: does your DTP profile only use one ink? You mention three different print heads in your post.
Unless you have a custom ink setup, you really should only be using matte black ink in a single

I have tried different media settings and created my own? media settings for DTP and for film. The horizontal lines still appear, suspect it must be the QTR software as the

Permissions are an ongoing issue. Some setups are for one personal computer and others
are for multiple people sharing printing -- like classes.
The default in QTR is sharing access and control of

Ohhhh, crap! The commands sometimes don't display right through these emails, or on groups.io. The "escape" can stripped off the semicolon. They should really end in a backslash and then semicolon.

Well, that's a shotgun-type approach that leaves everything in it's path writable by the world. Just be aware that's what it does. You may not want that.
I'd suggest this, a little more correct and

Re: If it isn't one thing it is another
My guess would be a permissions issue. I have a shortcut in the files
section of the groups.io site that will fix it. Or type this:
sudo chmod -R 777 /Library/Printers/QTR/quadtone
in a terminal

Has anyone seen this message and have a fix.
All my students for the last week have been printing cyanotype negs with apparently NO profile (since the printing still happens in Print-Tool).
