This Xmas i have bought PrintMakers Friend. He recommends a negative of 2.4 but with my EpsonP800 with PhotoBlack Ink Printing the QTR calibration test i can get at 75% ink only 1.8-1.9 Density. And i

Re: Horizontal lines
Hi Dieter, Thank you for your answer. I am printing DTP. Using Toyobo-plates. These are horizontal lines. When I turn the image 90 degrees in PrintTool , the lines remain horizontal. So it has

Re: Horizontal lines
Hi Eric, Based on your images I have the idea those are scans from BW negatives. Am I correct? I have bumped into similar artefacts with poorly scanned or processed images from clients (i.e. trying

Re: Low resolition/“grainy” prints-negatives
What a strange issue. Seems to make more sense lately to have a computer dedicated solely to printing and not updating it until all bugs are worked out. I see and hear of so many people having issues

Re: Horizontal lines
Hi Tomas, Thanks for your mail! The thing is, I do DTP. I also narrowed the platen gap from Widest to Wide, but the horizontal lines remain. Best regards, Eric

Re: Horizontal lines
Hello Eric, I had the same issue with Epson SC-P6000. I was using Tecco production SF140 film to print the negatives. I assume the horizontal lines was caused by the substrate being to thin. 140gsm.

Re: Low resolition/“grainy” prints-negatives
I figured out, the issue was caused by the scanner connected while printing with QTR. once I disconnected the scanner and closed Silver Fast, the prints were fine.

Re: Revisiting Carbon 6/7/8 in 2024
PK can be used on any paper. MK, not so good on glossy. Dilutions use less ink, so if you use PK for that you'll have an inkset that you can use for any kind of paper if you have 100% PK and 100% MK

Re: Revisiting Carbon 6/7/8 in 2024
thanks Walker, at a high level, what's the logic behind not diluting matte black ink? Ecomics of it, or quality?

Re: Revisiting Carbon 6/7/8 in 2024
IMO Don’t dilute the Mk. Use a gloss ink like Hd Pk for the dilutions. Or just go with piezo because it’s properly filtered and encapsulated . . . Walker

Thanks Walker, appreciate the tip. Didn’t want to waste the UltraHD MB ink I have. So any tips like that are very helpful!

Thanks Blayne, that’s literally what I was thinking too. Just try it. It’s all about trying and learning anyways.

Re: Revisiting Carbon 6/7/8 in 2024
80% carbon is going to be very very close to 100%. You have a lot of dots printing in the shadows so you can afford to go to 70% on shade 2 and then bring the others closer especially in the middle

Re: Revisiting Carbon 6/7/8 in 2024
If I were you I’d use whatever I wanted to. Doing my own linearization it should all work out. If it were me, I would want one toner position that I could use depending on what I was trying to do so

Revisiting Carbon 6/7/8 in 2024
I've got my Epson 7800 running matte black ink in refillable carts. I've experimented with a couple different ink sets, with and without LC/LM toner carts to neutralize the warmth of the carbon

Re: Question about color tinting with Print Tool and Canon Pro 1000 printer
Hi Sandy I'm not familiar with the Canon printers and driver but I'd expect it's similar enough to Epson. I see you've gotten down to the Layout pull down. I'd be curious to see what you get under

Here is a screenshot showing where the Epson Advanced Color Settings should be found. I'm pretty sure that Print-Tool is compatible with most if not all printers, though mine are all Epsons except for
