if Bernie is on Windows or Mac.? If on Windows, he must use the QTR
GUI.? If more information is needed for that, I'll be glad to weigh in, but
if its not Windows related, I'll refrain? *smile*.

I'm writing from my work computer which doesn't have QTR installed, hopefully someone
else will kick in on this and give more info. Anyway, I would guess that you're using a Windows machine, so I'm going to be limited help from this point on because my knowledge does not extend to Windows in any meaningful way. I think I had to "create" a Quad2200 printer device in my printer setup utility, or perhaps QTR did that by itself, I don't recall. Within the first dialog "print with preview/page setup", there is a pull down menu that allows me to select either the Epson 2200 printer or the Quad2200 printer device. When the Quad2200 is selected, new options become available in the "print" dialogs. Make sure the "more options" button is checked in the "print with preview" dialog, and then you should be able to see the "color management" dialog. This is where you should find the color space options. 开云体育Harv, ? I’ve been using QImage to print colour and QTR for black and white. ? I just used PS CS to try out your suggestions, but it doesn’t appear to work the same way as yours. ?

We should back up a little. I'm running QTR through Photoshop CS on OSX. In Pshop I select "print with preview", this brings up the first dialog where I select "same as source" for the color space and choose my paper size and orientation. Then click on "print" which brings up a second set of dialog boxes. Among the pull down menus I select the "matte paper" paper type and print resolution, then go to another pull down and select "no color adjustment, then go to the QTR menu and select QTR's paper profile and the tone settings, then finally print. Thanks for your efforts here, and I think most people will not mistake a well-moderated, focused group for grumpiness ;>) All your points are very well taken, and I just wanted to comment on the wrapping -- it may well be a Safari thing, because the only time I see a difference between my IE or Firefox formatting and the preview I do prior to posting is when Yahoo sticks one of their lovely ads in the right corner of the post. That just knocks all the line wrapping on its ear! Anyway, glad there is a group now just for QTR, and I trust Roy and Steve will spend time here and continue their incredibly generous support -- as well as all the other very knowledgeable QTR people from the DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint forum... Hi All,
Glad to be part of this new and much needed group. I suppose the formation of this group, by itself, validates the importance of the QTR. Count me in. I am only a lowly amateur with modest output, but hopefully I will be able to contribute in a useful way. I used to have a b/w & color darkroom (many years ago) and enjoyed it immensely, but the distractions of life became all-consuming. The digital process has seduced me once again, and I feel strongly that I'll stay with daylight printing. Love my QTR! Best wishes, Jeff Singer |

Diane, I have 2 2200s one with UC and one with UT7s I have QTR on both computers. The UT7 prints I do are on matte paper. The UC machine is set up for glossy and I do color and B&W on it. I don't have QTR in front of me, but I recall that it requires your paper profile to always be set to enhanced matte and color space set to "same as source". I guess I wasn’t specific enough in my original post, the problem with neutrality is that the prints are already too warm. I’m having to compensate by making them cooler in Photoshop (obviously not the right way to go!) ? I think your problem with neutrality is your choice of 2 cool curves
rather than 1 warm and 1 cool. This will result in a much more neutral tonal range. The bronzing is not QTR's fault. It is ink used by the 2200, the way the paper absorbs it and the way the 2200 puts ink onto the paper. As far as I know, the only way to deal with bronzing is to apply a coating that will even out the reflectance values of the paper or simply change to a more matte surface paper. Best regards, Randy |

开云体育Hi, ? I’m not very pleased with the neutrality (and bronzing) of my black and white prints using QTR RIP / Epson 2100 / Ilford Smooth Pearl paper. ? Does anybody have any curves that might help or any other advice. The settings I use in QTR Rip are:- ? Media Type: Premium Luster Photo Paper Curves: UCpk-EPPremSemiGloss-cool 50 UCpk-EPPremSemiGloss-cool ? Tried a few of the other built in curves, but the above seems to be the best. ? roll min paper length?

Has anyone tested the min allowed custom paper length using roll QTR?
I was trying to save money on tests and used a 4 inch length for the Epson driver; the result was 8 inches of a 16 inch wide image. When I upped the defined length to 6 inches it seemed to work fine. But with QTR 6 inches wouldn't work, then I had to hit the road. Does anyone know what the minimum roll paper length is for QTR? longer than 6 inches, or do I have something else wrong? UT7 curves
Hi,
My name is Jim weekes and I have loved QTR ever since the GUI for it came out. I need all the help I can get. I have been a photographer for 35 years. I had three different studios in Vermont and managed a color lab for seven of those years. I also had a darkroom up until I got a D30 and saw what Photoshop could do with a HUGE 3 megapixel file. The chemistry had been getting to me so I have effectively quit the darkroom for all but film developing in MF. I am writing to see if everyone knows about the UT7 curves for the 2200. I am on the Digital B&W forum and, at one point, Stephen Billiard, the author of the GUI, put out a list of curves for GUI and UT7 EEM warm and cool were on it. He immediately said it was a mistake and that he had published a list that Roy was working on. Having a 2200 set up with UT7 ink made me write to Roy and ask. He, very kindly, sent them to me with a disclaimer that they weren't finished. Well, to my eye, with very little tweaking, they make lovely prints. I would suggest that anyone with the 2200/UT7 combo give them a try. Best, Jim Weekes |

Scott, my wife and I have been running our 4000 on roll paper with QTR with no problems. We're using only USB cable. We're also using the 4000 for color printing using the Epson driver and I'm printing through a network setup.
I don't know why you'd want to hook up both firewire and USB; what's the advantage? Ian |

Am interested in hearing roll printing experiences, on QTR of course :) Both Mac and PC Is it working for you? Do you run it simultaneously with loaded and active Epson drivers? If so, are the Epson drivers set up on USB or Firewire? I have been running Ep on FW for roll and setup QTR for roll on USB. The good news is that nothing bad happened so far. (some one mentioned that it might ruin the printer to have both cables setup at once). I have not made the QTR work yet. Thanks Scott |
