module possibilities

I think QnetGateway currently allows for three D-Star modules... A, B, and C. What are the chances of getting more? I have four hotspots at home. Currently no way to run QnetGateway on all of them because of this limitation.

trying to rebuild Qnet gateway.
2
Hi there, I'm trying to rebuild Qnet gateway, because the mmdvm.qn file didn't have the right parameters to access the modem on my hotspot. I uninstalled the currently configured syste with us, ¡°us¡±, disabled DTMF, ¡°Ud¡± and cleaned all the executables, ¡°c¡± When I try to do a ¡°gp¡± I'm getting a message that says I need to merge, or stash some of the changes I've made, because pulling the latest sources will overwrite them. I have set up a chron job, and I did make a change to something in the YSF gateway directory to allow Qngateway to work with d-star, and fusion. Can you all help? Thanks, Justin

QnetIcomGateway
11
Tom, wondering if you plan to continue updating the version of the gateway specific to Icom repeaters. It's working great on our Icom (as long as we can keep internet running), but seems to be getting a little long in the tooth. i'm pretty sure i'm not smart enough to do it, but also wondered if there's any chance I could grab the dashboard functionality from QnGateway and install it on my QnIcomGateway build. mmdvm host not starting after Qnet gateway config?
8
Folks, I¡¯musing one of the n5voc boards, and I¡¯m doing a re-install of the Qnet gateway software. I uninstalled the system using us, cleaned the executables from the main menu of qnconfig, and then tried to re-install using is. However, after I¡¯ve done the install of of the system using is, MMDVM doesn¡¯t appear to be running. Is there any kind of guidance where I could go to find out why the MMDVM service is not starting? I can hear a little blip from my radio periodically, so something is definitely happening. Thanks for any troubleshooting tips. Justin

weird sound when I started up my hotspot?
5
Folks, I¡¯ve just changed the hotspot that my Qnet gateway is running on from a Zumspot to a full duplex MMDVM board put out by n5vboc. Yesterday everything worked fine, but last night before I went to bed, I moved the hotspot from down here in the shack to upstairs in my bedroom, and connected. Now I do have a mesh system, so there is definite wifi access up there, and I doon¡¯t think that there should be an internet connection issue. However, when I came down this morning to key up on d-star, I¡¯m getting a sound that sounds like Darf Vader when I unkey. Qnet gateway sounding like Darf Vader?
31
FOlks, I¡¯ve just compiled my Qnet gateway build on one of the boards put out by n5boc: aka, Lonestar Semi conductor, and the board is a full duplex board. I uninstalled the configuration, created a new configuration indicating that my gateway was using an mmdvm host, and then recompiled the gateway. The gateway seems to work fine, but when I key, and unkey my radio, I get a sound that is kind of like some weird monster, and then I hear the confirmation of transmission. Is there any setting that I can change to aleviate this? Thanks, Justin

You can run "./qnconfig expert" and that will give you access to many other values, including the TX power in the modem. Be careful in this "expert" mode, you can really screw things up.

values for YSFGateway.qn?
6
FOlks, I¡¯m tring to setup my YSFgateway.qn file so that i can build a multi-mode hotspot, and I have a couple of quetions: First, which id do I use in the id field: *** Code begins*** Id=1234567 ***COde ends*** Is this my DMR ID, which I have or the CCS7ID? Also, how do I setup the startup value to reflect that I want to starup on FCS310? So far my starup line loks like this: *** Code begins*** Startup=FCS31080 COde end*** The option, without the quotes: "book DG-ID for Reflector¡± Can you use that to book all the DGIDS 1-99, and then even if none are taken, so long as your on FCS310, you can move through the DGIDs that have groups on them, and it should work? Thanks for thehelp, Justin

MPB of qnet gateway?
Folks, i¡¯ve just finished a Multi-protocol build of qnet gateway. YSF Gateway, and the MMDVM host are running. D-star works, and I¡¯m successfuly able to get out on the quadnet array using d-star. For all practical purposes, it seems as though if I go in to the qnadmin script, I should be able to turn off d-star, and then the Zumspot would respond to the wires-x button on my radio, and load reflectors correct? here is what the log looks like; Log Menu USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND root 262 0.0 0.6 4148 2740 ? Cannibalizing a pistar installation for Qnetgateway?
12
FOlks, I¡¯ve had a heck of a time trying to get a version of Raspberry PI OS to successfully image to an SD card, or should I say boot and connect to my wifi. I¡¯ve created a wpa_supplicant.conf file, used touch to make a ssh file that I moved over to the boot partission of the SD card, and have done the necessary edits to enable the serial port, and disable bluetooth. For whatever reason, there is something just acting weird with my attempt to install Raspberry Pi OS on this Pi 0W that I can¡¯t quite work out, so¡ I¡¯ve done a little experimenting, and have been able to successfully ssh in to my Pi when I have my card that I use for Pi-star installed, and I was successfully able to get qnet installed, and have started to try and run the ./qnetconfig script. When you are in the menus, and you are presented with the various modules, in my case I chose b, as I¡¯m running an mmdvm hotspot, how do you move one choice to the next, so I know that I do need to go in to the IRCDDB menu, i, and login, l,once I¡¯ve pressed the letter l to enter my callsign, do I then press enter, and then enter the desired values, followed by enter again when I¡¯m finished? Finally, is there a way that I can tel Pi-star not to load, but allow the Raspian OS to load so that I can use Qnet? I¡¯m assuming that having both running on a hotspot probably causes problems. Thanks for the help folks, Justin

an accessible method of installing qnet gateway?
12
Folks, i¡¯ve just purchased an S card of 32 GB, and I¡¯m going to try and install qnet gateway. Being totally blind, using any kind of external keyboard, and monitor connected to a Pi is going to not work at all. is there a way that I can get a version of Raspbian downloaded that might be preconfigured with my wifi information so that I could ssh in and perform the necessary steps? Thanks, Justin

values for the ./qnconfig script?
3
FOlks, I have now managed to get the latest distro of buster to install on my hotspot, it was a rather interesting way of working around the issue, but it worked. SO now I¡¯m running the ./config script, and I¡¯m trying to enter values for module b as I¡¯ll be operating on UHF. what values do I need for ls, link a startup, and dd, devicepath? I¡¯m assuming that the device path is the zumspot¡¯s hat. How do i find out what that is? The rest of these seemto be pretty self explanatory. Thanks again for all the help, Justin

new version for DVAP users, and a question for everyone
3
After quite a bit of playing around with this, there is a new version for DVAP users that will allow you to either configure your DVAP using its serial number, or its assigned device path (i.e., /dev/ttyUSB<X>). You only need to specify one, either a serial number or a device path. If you specify a serial number in qnconfig, the device path will be truncated to zero length. If you specify a device path in qnconfig, the DVAP serial number will be truncated to zero length. Recently, github.com has enabled a new feature called "Discussions" under its own tab. I am thinking of shutting down all my groups.io groups in favor of using this new Discussions feature on github.com. I think it would make my life a little easier and less cluttered and perhaps it would have the same effect on on you too. In order to use the "Discussions" feature, I believe you have to have a github.com account, and it is very easy to sign up for an account. I believe that github.com (owned now by Microsoft) is very good about not sharing your account information with third parties. I would like to know of your opinion of such a move, especially if you though it would be a bad idea and would not like to see my groups.io groups disappear.

DStarRepeater QnetGateway
28
Greetings, I am looking to switch to this format. I really like you can execute 36 commands. This will really help me out as a repeater owner. I run a lot of commands from the keyboard that would be easier from the radio. But why I am writing this. I run dstarrepeater with split repeater. I run the voting system and have lots of RX sites. Can I still use this with your gateway? We use Starnet a lot also. I can not get it to work anymore in openquad or irc. I am looking a solution. Thanks, Ryan

DVAP
17
I have been trying to use my old DVAP dongle and the configuration asks for a serial number that is supposed to be visible on the PCB. It is not, I can see a serial number for the port when I connect to my PC in the device manager, but that number does not work.I wonder why it needs that number as the original DVAPTool does not need it. Any clues? Horst, VK2HL

Still trying to debug

Tom, I am on a debugging kick this morning. Two oddities I am noticing are under voltage thunderbolt appears occasionally, and I always see a ¡°Failed opening QnetGateway failed. I will send you my dmr.cfg with this email. I do not see anything amazing in the boot.log or other logs. Which logs would you like me to send? Carty On Feb 22, 2021, at 9:37 AM, Tom Early <n7tae@...> wrote: The following announcement was just released on the QuadNet website: In order to better serve the QuadNet D-Star Routing community, we are moving our D-Star Routing IRC Servers. There will still be a diminished server operating on rr.openquad.net to fulfill the login needs of clients still using that address, but it will no long provide IRC update messages to its clients. In other words, clients still using rr.openquad.net will no longer be able to find IP addresses for their desired routing targets. If you use routing on QuadNet, be sure to update the IRC routing server name in your hot-spot or reflector software. If you operation a Smart Group Server or are STARnet Server, you will also need to update those clients. If you don't do D-Star Routing, no action on your part is required. This move will not affect REF, DCS, XRF or XLX linking to any of our reflectors, XLX307, XLX587, XRF735 or XRF757. I just pushed up a new version. If you are using the default values for connection to our ircddb server, you will need to do an uninstall, git pull and install. If you are operating in dual-stack mode (IPv4 and IPv6) you just need to update your irc connection server hostnames with qnconfig and restart your system.
