Re: weird sound when I started up my hotspot?
Hi Ryan,
I got that issue resolved. I did recompile the gateway, and made sure that the tx, and rx frequencies were 5 MHZ apart, and that seemed to fix the issue. You really helped me with that and

With QnetGateway, it is MMDVM.qn, NOT MMDVM.ini

Re: weird sound when I started up my hotspot?
Ignoring the log errors for the moment, are your RX and TX frequencies at least 5Mhz apart, and did you enable duplex in MMDVM.ini?

Re: Qnet gateway sounding like Darf Vader?
Glad it worked out.
By the way, if you have any suggestions about how the best way to format type so that it renders well in voice over, please post them.

Re: Qnet gateway sounding like Darf Vader?
I used your first example, and it worked out fine. I¡¯ve got my Qnet gateway setup to run the YSFHostupdate.sh script every night at midnight, and so far I¡¯ve not seen any errors in the system

Re: Qnet gateway sounding like Darf Vader?
I¡¯ve found it, and updated the path in the file. I see that I can install it into Cron. Can you show me what a line would look like to have this run every night at 12:00 A.M? Sorry about this,

Re: Qnet gateway sounding like Darf Vader?
One other suggestions would be to update your YSFHosts.txt file.? There is a terminal utility in ~/YSFClients/YSFGateway which does this, but must first open the .sh file and edit it to include the

Re: Qnet gateway sounding like Darf Vader?
I have tried some other ySF reflectors, and I get the same result¡ for some reason it will drop after a few seconds, so there is definitely something weird going on.

Re: output power
Interesting. That should work pretty well. I guess if I had my choice, I'd prefer to dial back the output power via software. And thanks to Tom's recent changes, now I can!
Come to think of it... my

Re: output power
I bought a pack of tiny SMA dummy loads that I use on several hotspots.? They still cover my 1/2 acre property, but I don't seem to have any problems with intermod.

Re: Qnet gateway sounding like Darf Vader?
This log doesn't indicate a problem with your hotspot configuration, but rather a problem with the connection between your hotspot and US-America-Link:

Re: output power
Yep, an actual FCC regulation I think. :) ?And good news... I set the RF level to 25 and things are working well. I figure that's close to 1/10th of the full power setting. Thanks very much for

I think that's one of the golden rules of ham radio, isn't it? Use the least power necessary to get the job done.
