Using Qnet to link Icom Dstar UHF repaeter to a XLX Dstar reflector.
4
First off, thanks for developing such a useful ham radio program. Let me say that I am by no means an expert of doing things like what I have been trying to do, so I apologize if this is an elementary task, bear with me. I am trying to help a radio club in Georgia link their UHF Icom Dstar repeater to a XLX Reflector that I host on a simple debian server that is located in Utah. The Repeater has a public facing static IP address as does my XLX reflector. Would I be able to use Qnet, installed on a Raspberry pi3B+, to link to the repeater, and then connect the Qnet on the pi to my XLX reflector? Allowing the clubs repeater to have reflector access. Or would it make more sense to install Qnet on my debian server that also host my XLX reflector and accomplish the same goal? Once again forgive me for my ignorance, but I am very willing to learn and do the work to make this happen. Ed AK7AN

OLED display doesn't work
I've got QnetGateway work well on Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, and a MMDVM HS hat. Everything is ok but the OLED on MMDVM hat doesn't work. The OLED goes well with Pi-Star 2.1.8. Followed every step of F5UII's tutorial (https://www.f5uii.net/en/installation-oled-display-ssd1306-raspberry-pi-mmdvm-mmdvmhost/), but still not work. My system version: Linux raspberrypi 6.6.51+rpt-rpi-v7 #1 SMP Raspbian 1:6.6.51-1+rpt2 (2024-10-01) armv7l GNU/Linux MMDVM HAT firmware: MMDVM_HS_Dual_Hat-v1.6.1 20230526 14.7456MHz dual ADF7021 FW by CA6JAU GitID #7ff74ed QnetGateway and MMDVMHost are all the latest version cloned from github.com Anyone in this group have ever got the OLED work?

As an end-user who is using QnetGateway on a Raspberry Pi behind a NAT router. Which ports do I need to forward to my Pi? I’m using only D-Star and therefore am not using MMDVMHost.

Anyone else have issues with qnvoice on the IcomGateway?
3
Hey guys, just recently got a club repeater stack on the air with QNet for the first time instead of G2/G3. So far it has been smooth sailing. but I am setting up some voice announcement scripts, and cant get qnvoice to play a non-garbled stream for the life of me. It plays the default .dat files from the announce directory no problem, but if I make my own file using the method described in: IcomGateway/DTMF+REMOTE+VOICE.README (leave a voice mail with "S0", then chop off the first 56 octets with "tail -c +56") It just comes out trashed. On the other hand, I noticed that when I rename that custom created file (with the 56 octets trimmed off) to id.dat, and copy it to the announcement file directory, it plays automatically once or twice with no issues (but then stops playing automatically?) The thing that is getting me here, is that if I use qnvoice to play the same exact file, its just totally trashed on the RX end. So what gives??? Is this a known thing? Am I just doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated here as it would save me from having to get a DVdongle and record / convert my files for another program like ambestream to playback. Thanks, Carter - KN4DLY

DVAP VHF Dongle

Hi everyone. Just joined the group. Wonder if anyone is using the DVAP VHF Dongle (the red one) with the QnetGateway? Looking at buying one as a base for a VHF higher powered, high elevation hotspot. Cheers Finn, VK4LL.

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to build the QnetGateway on a Debian 12 system, but it keeps failing. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Hello
Thanks for letting me join. I am sure I will have lots of questions later. I still trying to figure out this whole D-Star thing. I just purchased a ID4100A new in the box and unopened. I bought the Bluetooth and opc2350LU cables too. I am trying to get this working in my new bronco. I am always on the ranch or fishing and no towers close by. I do have cell service so trying to get terminal mode running. Thanks again Gerald KC6CNN

new server install

Hi, just found QnetGateway while working on setting up a Icom RP2010. I have Icom server software running on a disk but am looking to switch over to ircDDB just for the linking capabilities. I've had some real issues getting ircDDB working on any linux distro stand alone. so this morning I loaded QnetGateway, like what I see so far but seem to be having issues connecting to irc4.openquad.net or ircv6.openquad from what I'm reading password is "blank" for both systems? not sure what else it could be not a linux guru by any means. any thoughts? ICOMGateway and 23cm

Tom, I'm working with a friend to set up a DSTAR repeater stack using ICOMGateway. I realized today that he has a 23cm module. Any chance it will be supported one day? If you need one for testing I bet I can help! Dan W4DTO

github search results

Whew. Found the QnetGateway repository. I was about to panic. When I searched github for N7TAE the results were confusing. I've attached the results here. No QnetGateway.

defunct?
Is this project defunct? I was unable to pull the source via Github. And when I search... other N7TAE projects are under a different user.

Recent git pull fails to install
5
I did a git pull today to see if there were any updates. Foolish, I know. Anyway, it now fails to compile and install. I use ./qnadmin to compile and it clears the screen so I don't have much to go on other than nothing being installed. Is there a logfile I should look for or can I just run make from the main directory and pastebin the output? What I know about programming would fit in a thimble with room to spare, otherwise I could go hunting for the error and offer up a fix. Thanks Fred - N2NRV

New pi dvap install can't link with radio
6
I'm setting up QNetGateway on a pi with a dvap. I get the Welcome to QuadNet greeting when the gateway starts up, I can link and unlink with qnremote just fine, and I can unlink with my IC-2820, but I can't link with the radio. I've heard traffic on a linked reflector, but so far I haven't been able to make any contacts so I'm not confident my audio is getting out. Looking at the logs I find that my rpt2 is empty in the qnlink log and r2 is empty in the qngateway log when I attempt to link from the radio, but does show up in the qngateway log if I'm linked. IcomGateway Quirks
5
Tom Thanks very much for your efforts to provide a viable alternative to G3. I'm new to managing a D-Star gateway, so I'm bound to ask some dumb questions, but here goes... We've installed your latest gateway software on a Raspberry Pi3 to run our B & C module W1SCC repeaters. It works - sometimes - and I wanted to provide you with some "operational" feedback. Perhaps we've done something wrong or the Pi3 is underpowered for the task(?)...I plan to substitute the Pi with an Intel-based laptop running Mint 20.3 later this week to check that theory. Quirks we're seeing are: - log shows a reflector link being established but the voice announcement doesn't always occur (maybe 50% of the time). - Radio-initiated commands don't always seem to work. I find myself having to repeat the commands to finally link or unlink a reflector. Signal level isn't an issue since I've been doing this very close to the repeaters. Both B & C modules show the same behavior. - Unlink shows in the log but also (sometimes) fails to announce. Issuing a new link command (sometimes) causes the unlink voice, followed by linked voice announcement. - linking to reflector XLX658 (our local reflector) doesn't seem to work...it is in the gwys.txt file. - linking to other gateways....am I correct in assuming that I need to add the gateways to the gwys.txt file? - keeps repeating "module is unlinked"...how do I make it stop this behavior (currently, I link it to something). - log shows /usr/local/etc/linked.dat being sent but (sometimes) can't be heard. Suggestions? Thanks & 73! Keith/KI5US Sun City Center, FL

New Icom Repeater Gateway
6
Thanks to a couple of hams from 4-land, there is a new IRC gateway especially for Icom repeaters. Ryan W4EAE helped me start the debugging process and Dan W4DTO helped me finish it. Dan provided key tcpdump files that were critical in helping me identify the final few catastrophic bugs in this new project. The original repo at https://github.com/n7tae/QnetIcomGateway has been archived and is now a public, read-only repo. The new code is at https://github.com/n7tae/IcomGateway. This new version is now very close to the QnetGateway code-base and includes the latest features of QnetGateway, like IPv6 routing/linking and sql-based state memory, required by the new dashboard.

I see the full reflector list is downloaded from va3uv.com. It appears to be several years old and there are new reflectors and some IP addresses have changed. I tried to find a contact email for va3uv without success. Is there a better source for finding a current comprehensive list of reflectors? (REF037 IP is wrong, REF046 is not there).

DVAP Tool and Windows 10 "crowding characters"
Hello, I have two DVAP's (DV Access Point Donge's) running on two separate PC's.....Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.... On the Windows 10 PC, the DVAPTool 1.05 runs and operates fine except for the crowding of the text....I've tried to adjust Display size with no positive results... Is there something in the Terminal window that can be adjusted for this? Thanks for your time, Mike Erstad K9BBN
