Yes, that's what I was thinking too. Tom, if qnmodem won't start, you can't use qnadmin to look at the log. (It will only show logs of running programs.) So you'll have to get out of quadmin and look

Hi Thomas, In order to use the jumbo spot, you need to make sure qnmodem is installed and running. From your log, it is possibly installed but not running. Try starting it using qnadmin Maintenance

Expanding on Stefan’s comment, You may need to edit /boot/config.txt and disable enable_uart=1 and may need to add dtoverlay=pi3-miniuart-bt or pi3-disable-bt (depending on your preference).

Alternatively, you may need to use /dev/ttyS0 for the Jumbospot, I couldn't get /dev/ttyAMA0 to work and I also needed to disable the serial console, if you're using the standard Raspbian
