QnetGateway + ID-4100A in Access Point Mode + ID51A Plus
Hi there; I am hoping someone out there can identify a problem I have been having.? I have been using my ID-4100A (in terminal mode) with QnetGateway without any issues since Christmas.? It has been a great setup and extremely reliable. I recently borrowed an ID-51A Plus handheld from my amateur radio club to test the access point mode on the 4100. That is, I am hoping to use my 4100 in Access Point mode, with QnetGateway, to make a hotspot but so far I have not had complete success with it. ? The end result, my 4100 is transmitting / receiving but I am not getting any audio from the 4100 to my handheld.? All the other digital bits comes though fine (i.e. the handheld will display the RX information of calls, results linking/unlinking, etc).? I can succsuffly send Linking , and unlinking commands, but no audio ever comes through to the handheld, only the end of transmission "beep" is heard (which I assume is done by the radio itself).? I am stumped. Configuration is as follows: QnetGateway is at the latest code (as of this evening) *? I have module B configured:? "VY1RG B" My 4100 has the latest firmware, 1.05 * The my call is set to "VY1RG?? / 4100"?? * In AP mode have freq set to 146.490 ????? (are there any other settings I need to worry about with AP mode on the 4100?) The ID-51A plus also has the latest firmware, 1.05 ?* I Created a "hotspot" repeater listing for this use in DR mode. ???? * This has a freq set to 146.490 (0Mhz- offset)? ***see note below ???? * R1: "VY1RG? B"?? (I tried to set it with one space, but it changes it to two spaces between my call in the module) ???? * R2: "VY1RG? G" ? * Mycall set to "VY1RG?? /ID51" ***? I set the hotspot repeater listing in the ID-51 to have a duplex because if it did not I could not successfully set the R1 and R2 settings.? Without setting it to type DV Repeater, with an offset R1 and R2 cannot be set it seems. With the above configuration Link, unlink, etc all works when put in the URcall, but again no audio comes through from the 4100 to the handheld.? When speaking while transmitting on the HT, I hear the audio come though on the 4100 when i have the audio up. -- Additional information In terminal mode the 4100 works as expected. In simplex (without QnetGateway) between the 4100 and the ID-51 the Digital Voice works fine. Any ideas? Thanks; Rob VY1RG |

Important new release
Thanks to some persistent reminders from DS5HVM and corroboration from W1BSB, I have finally realized that there were problems with the way qngateway and qnlink were opening the sqlite3 database. When I was first developing the sqlite3 database support for QnetGateway, I was seeing some problems with my hot-spot, but I was solving the encountered problems the wrong way. This new release has backed out those solutions and database access is now properly coded, and the code is smaller, so I like that!
Please update your system at your earliest convenience. In the qnadmin main menu, uninstall your system (us), do a git pull (gp) and then install your system (is). |

Re: Re-reading your gwys.txt file with an F
For those (not Tom clearly) who have problems remembering the letter codes and I will include one that is unique to open spots here the Letter code is simply the comamnd initial fo most commands. A - Address (Ip address on an open spot. unique to the Open spoat does not work with other systems) E =Echo I = Information L=LInk (Must be proceeded by what you wish to link to) U= Unlink ALl thise are preceeded by 7 spaces except for L as noted FOr QNet proceded by SIX spaces HX Halt (shutdown) system RX Reboot system I believe there are a couple others as well but those (Save fo A, are the ones I use For Tom. the A might be handy but ..... ON a scale of 10 I give it about a 0.25 if that. (Not very important). Hi everyone, Thank you in advance. I have installed the QnetGateway for MMDVM Board, it works very well. Today I am installing new QnetGateway which is updated in 30 days ago.? It has problem to link at gateway, in especial qnlink process. The qnLink says that gateway not found in gwy listt.? But the gateway exists in gwy.txt. de DS5HVM |

Re: Re-reading your gwys.txt file with an F
On your radio, all 1 (or 2) character URCalls should be right shifted, proceeded by 7 (or 6) spaces.
"?????? U" is for unlinking. "?????? I" is for linked status. "?????? F" is for reloading the gwys.txt. Unlike PiStar, QnetGateway requires that you are already unlinked before you do a linking command. This is all explained in the file called "OPERATING". I hope I am answering your questions. Don't forget that you can use qnremote to send any URCall to your system. For example if I wanted to send an unlink command to my hot-spot I can do: qnremote b n7tae u Do a "qnremote" without arguments and it will explain the parameters. 1 and 2 character URCalls will automatically be right-shifted. |

Re: Re-reading your gwys.txt file with an F
Thanks for the update. F did not work a few minutes ago. but.. I've not done a GP in a few day so I went with the process that worked before. Have done the IS.. then since the GP option was there I went ahead and did it. And the US took longer than normal (Suggestive I did an update of the program) and now it's up and running (this is a running log of what's happening) and I'm connected to the reflector I connect to (normally) under crontab control at this hour. One thing... I have had this up and running and switching (Under crontab control) for several weeks now... but it's only recently it started "Forgetting" what was in the list. Current list is the pi-star (IP) list was using one of the others but it does it too (The big one) "Nothing adds excitement like something that is none of your business" Note I am not a doctor, I don't even play one on television John F Davis On Saturday, May 9, 2020, 05:09:22 PM EDT, Tom Early <n7tae@...> wrote: After the recent discussions, I realized that the permission to do an "?????? Re: Qnlink has some problems
Yes, it is correct the gateway file is gwys.txt installed /usr/loca/etc.
But, qnLink shows the gateway not found in gwy list when reflector changing failed. -- Hi everyone, Thank you in advance. I have installed the QnetGateway for MMDVM Board, it works very well. Re: Qnlink has some problems
I too have noticed the Not in list error.. Did not know a simple "F" will fix it though been using qnetadmin LS and IS that fixes it. Re: Qnlink has some problems
You can send an F to refresh that file?!? And here I was restarting qnlink every time.?? Good to know! On a side note, completely low priority feature request:? having some kind of second gwt.txt that takes precedence over the current one. Use case: ? I often use your qnadmin interface to pull the gateways from a source but it will override a manual entry I have, so I have to add it back in each time.?? If there could be a second, static, file that kind of overrides any duplicates in the gwy.txt that would be helpful for me, but only because I am lazy;?? Kind of like having something in your local hosts file that would override what is in DNS.
