New QMX + build - ALL is working 3W or better all bands at first startup. Great! ?Run time 2 hrs + numerous on & offs.

Ocassional weird characters in display. ?Had not set up internal gps. SO, shut down, ?, install the battery, provide the gps power source jumper, Add the top case - fit perfectly before screws installed - no PCB stress. Power up display shows all blocks on top line - this is weird but perhaps the gps is initializing - gps monitored on serial port utility all set - good fix. Still blocks , on off , factory reset still blocks. Run through all serial port diagnostics = all good. ?took it apart reflowed right angle connectors going to display . ?reinspect with 6x magnifiers for whiskers , blobs cut offs etc . run bare on bench = blocks on display. ?Have built two regular qmx's . this board is easy to inspect be comparison. ?Limited to ?10m here and it's 8pm ?. I seem to be able to control it so will try xmit tomorrow. WSJT is happy setting frequency and commanding emit. ?Will use 10M vertical which I''ll check SWR using regular QMX.

One recent poster had a similar issue, and found it was a bad solder joint on the little blue contrast pot.

Thanks. Started poking around the pot That was not it! ? Further poking showed that it was very slight pressure from the Ear & Mic/paddle jacks as they exited the front panel which was causing a disconnect in one or more of the header pins for the front panel. Will use a tapered reamer later, to open up the clearances.

All good now - CQ'd on 10 / ft8 ? Got a rely from SP6ZJP - in Poland within 3 minutes. ?from Sandy Hook CT - home made 1/4 vertical and I'm down on a valley!
