You know your printer dues "Proprinter" or "PCL Level X" and then you set it and all works. - Why blowing the software up when there is no genuine need? Vy73 Stefan. -- Stefan U. Wooden paddle makes more of a statement, LOL.? Just read in the local newspaper that a school district in Missouri has re-instated "Corporal Punishment" using a paddle into their schools!? Wonder how long that'll last before the lawsuits bankrupt them? Jim, W0EB

It provides a standardized means of sending the proper data to the rig for CAT control. Digging through the HAMLIB folders on Linux and/or Windows, and there are no 'rig specific files' provided. The software (lWSJT-x, FLDigi, etc.) specify the rig options/information that they have programmed to interact with HAMLIB, not the other way around. In some cases, you can copy the Kenwood files (usually XML or INI) for the radio that works and create your own QDX file.? I have done this with FLDigi and the RS-HFIQ (HobbyPCB) radio that uses a Kenwood TS50s configuration with a different baud rate. ? -- Rob KB8RCO |

QCX mini Backlight Dimming
Hello,
First off, I want to say just how awesome the QCX Mini is!! It is an incredible rig by any standard and I am really enjoying using it!! Now my question... Is there a way to change the brightness of the back light for the display? I just find it way to bright in low light conditions.? I have done a little digging and haven't found much other than a reference to R48 controls the brightness of the display (?).? I am now looking at the schematics and the layouts but while I am, just looking for others experience with dimming the back light. Thanks es 73, Kenny AF4QK |
Initial configuration of QCX+ with no antenna

Hi all,
This is a silly question but I don¡¯t want to risk it - I¡¯ve just built my QCX+ but I don¡¯t have a matched antenna or a dummy load at home. Am I okay to power it up and run the alignment with no antenna connected to the antenna port? Thanks, Andrew? |

I concur - the last 3 years have apparently set off a lot of Jackass Buttons (to quote American comedian Bill Engvall). As to the authors of those nasty emails, they should find something more productive to do with their time. Perhaps a very close examination of their vertical smiles................... Re: RPi 4 Stock
Anecdotal evidence received here is that just about every major
retailer like RS / Farnell etc are leaving their website up with "out of stock / 999 week back order" messages just to cover their arses. Putting in an order has resulted in some surprising results, like getting them in as a little as one week. Not guaranteed, but it has been happening. - 73 de Andy - |
Re: Installing a TCXO in an already built unit
The biggest problem might be getting the crystal removed, depending on your equipment. I've done a few retrofits, on QCXv1 and U3S' and I my desoldering equipment consists of solder-wick and my iron.
If the crystal is flush with the PCB it can be a struggle to remove without damaging the board's plated through pads. In one case I used a Dremel with a grinding wheel to cut the crystal in half. It wasn't pretty but it worked and I didn't damage much other than the crystal. Inching it out by heating one pad at a time is doable, but you'll have to go slow. Good luck! Al WD4AH |
Re: #QDX T1 heat; thermal design
#qdx
Hi Dean, If you are concerned about heat dissipation of the whole transceiver than I recommend you my solution. First change the 5V linear regulator with a SMPS one in SIP3 capsule (look after my previous messages on the list). This will reduce a lot the heat. Second, use the metal plate over the T1 as has been should in the previous picture. With only these changes you will be on the safe side. I run QDX 24/24h for weeks without any issue and after half an hour of key down the whole case got stable to around 40C in about 28C room temperature. PA MOSFETs are not a problem in terms of heat dissipation therefore they don't need more heat sink on top of the existing one. 73 de YO3FFF Cristi
