Re: QMX - smoke - another C107/Q108 failure
I have worked on about 20 different QMX rigs for fellow hams. ?I made up a set of linear regulated ?PS boards for this kind of testing. ?3.3V from the existing linear regulator and 5V from a bench supply (fed from a hacked and burned up SMPS board) that I can control and measure the current. ?Feeding the ADC_ lines as well. ?This all works well and is very helpful in isolating problems and quickly confirming the main circuitry. ?One of my best tools.

QMX - intermittent power up
When I plugged in QMX (built for 12V) and pushed left encoder, nothing happened (power set at 7V/200ma limit). Pushed it a few more times, and power did come on at 165ma, but then went off. Tried several more times and got it to go on intermittently, but it wouldn't stay on, only a few seconds.??
Touched up the left encoder soldering as well as 2X4 pin control board header, thinking that was the problem. Also removed and touched up the 2x4 and 2X3 female pins on both sides of the power supply board. Checked for continuity on 2x4 male header on control board to the main board and it was okay (I had to remove the 2X4 female header during construction since it wasn't straight and repositioned it, so I? thought maybe an issue with the female header.) Now I am not getting it to go on intermittently as earlier.?? What's next to try? Phil, K3UT |

Re: QMX where can I find the future

The software is still very much at an alpha stage. There are quite a few usability bugs to sort out. Soon, I am sure the big features will be ready. I haven’t been planning on SSB till next spring. I can QSO in CW and all single tone digital now. Hans has mentioned he has bugs, goals and hopefully “reach goals” to work on. The goals include enabling the SWR meter and implementing high SWR power reduction. I am not sure if SSB is a goal or a reach goal. ?

Hi Hans
Thanks for your help so far? So I checked the mainboard by
Ideas how to bypass that so I can complete checks ? Regards Rick |

Been there and done that. Only mention I found was SSB and quoting the QRP-Labs writeup, "until and if SSB is implemented". I am assuming that there is a plan somewhere for the future development of QMX and asked about it. Just doing my due diligence and gathering
all the data I can before making a decision to purchase one.
Thanks for your input, Billy

Re: QMX RX "carrier" noise
Normal for now. It is alpha firmware after all.
