QMX ---PCB Rev 2 --
#qmx
In doing due diligence, one has to ask the tough questions. Does management see a Revision 2 PCB board on the way with all the known fixes on it? Would new firmware depend on having the new Revision 2 PCB board leaving the Revision 1 QMX units behind? Yes, this is a tough question, but a valid concern in making a decision. Thanks in advance, Billy

I think you mean a? Stretch goal.. that's what such things are called? in Oz. AKA;? "the project manager sweats the staff "

QDX dead on receive but Ok on transmit diag led 2 on.
I've built both a QDX and a QMX. The QMX works very well. I've never been able to get the QDX to receive, I thought it was just my location and bad aerial but the QMX disproves that. The QDX and QMX both have about the same transmit power of around 4watts across the bands. Checking the QDX TCXO shows it to between 2 or 3 Hz of the correct frequency (or my counter may be off).RF sweeps and audio sweeps appear normal however the input analysis shows 'no signal'.The diagnostic light is on but this may be normal. The T2 transformer and L12 bandswitch coil all show correct continuity. I've run out of ideas, Has anyone any suggestions and is the diagnostic led of any help?

Re: QMX - intermittent power up
开云体育No surprise there, if it doesn't work
on 7V no reason it should with more.
Try checking the voltage on the gate of
Q103 or Q105. Inactive it should be at the V_IN voltage and go low
when the encoder button is pressed.
If it doesn't then there's a fault
between there and the encoder.? If it does then check the voltages
on the other pins of Q103 and Q105, they should all go high when
the encoder button is pressed.
Or try the PSU board tests I posted
here a few days ago, this is the sort of thing they are intended
to help with.
(it seems that these tests are
sufficiently useful that they need to be somewhere less ephemeral
than the chat group, I've no problem with that.)

Re: QDX High band..won't
Hi, I got into the same situation. I failed to transmit over 20m if I enabled Japanese?band limitation. And QDX works fine when I disabled the mode. 2023年8月28日(月) 9:54 Pierre FK8IH <jb.gallauziaux@...>: I set the "Japanese bands" limitation with Putty and it prevented any use of bands higher than 20M. I unabled the "Japanese bands" and now my Hi-band QDX works like a charm. --

Re: QMX T507 winding
GIUSEPPE
good morning Rick, thank you very much for telling me, I made a big mistake while winding, I will have to eliminate a coil asap, I'm still stuck with the QMX due to problems with the power supply board on Q103 and Q104, I'm waiting for the spare parts and the new boards to be replaced.? I hope I haven't made any more mistakes.? I'm stymied....
After building my kit I very quickly put it on Ft8 to check it out. It received apparently ok. With pskrporter I saw my transmissions registered all over north America. I then plugged in a head set and heard Nothing. Tried a second headset still nothing. Switched the CW keyer to practice mode, no audio. If I use a cw key and put a power meter on when I key the paddle I get about 4 watts out.
There is a click when I power up and power down, but when on receive or during CW practice mode there is just no audio what so ever.? I've looked over the board with a loupe at least 20 times. My soldering isn't professional but I don't see any missing smd parts, broken smd parts, or really bad solder joints. I've attacked an image incase someone knows an obvious location to look.? Any help in where I could look next for trouble shooting would be greatly appreciated.? 73, Don KC9ZMY |

Another QMX Takes to the Air
开云体育<<...>> <<...>> Greetings all, My QMX has been complete for a while, but I’ve been traveling and only had a chance to put it on the air for the first time today.? First contact was on FT8? with HI3K at a distance of? 1200 miles using 4.5 Watts into a non-resonant? dipole in my attic.? It was a fun kit to build!? Looking forward to more FT8 and CW fun! Great job, Hans! 73, Mike WM4B |
