Re: QMX Audio Noise when switching to Digital mode
Matt,
I had a similar problem with my QMX when I had metal knobs on the encoders. An ESD event from my finger would cause the screeching. Try grounding yourself before touching the QMX ( I am assuming you don't have any knobs on the QMX yet and are just turning the encoder shafts) Gary W9TD |
Re: BNC connector doesn't work.
Remove the washer. Of all the QCX's I've built I've had to leave that washer off on all of them. -mike/w1mt On Fri, Feb 23, 2024 at 6:47?PM GLENN THOMPSON <glenn.thompson@...> wrote: I ordered a OCX-mini 20 meter and had it built by QRP as I don't solder. Re: QMX HIGH BAND NO RF OUT AFTER ANOTHER 10 hour WSPR TRANSMISSION
GIUSEPPE
hi Michael, I don't know if it's a bug in firmware 16, but I also did a factory reset and it's the same thing, no RF output, while before it output 6W now it has a current absorption of 90 mA with the light on and in transmission 190 mA, tomorrow I will try to load the previous firmware again to see what happens.? Thank you very much 73 Giuseppe iu8eun Il Ven 23 Feb 2024, 20:01 Michael N2ZDB <n2zdb.radio@...> ha scritto: My guess is that this is a firmware bug. |

The far end of the EFHW has several metres of string (actually 1.6mm nylon blind cord) which keeps the end of the EFHW at about half the height of the mast.? 73 Rod |

Thanks, Ludwig, good question.? The ViFly, with no load connected, registers 40mA on my bench supply's meter, same as with the QMX connected.? This implies that the QMX isn't drawing anything, so I can now increase the current limit on the supply and push the button on the rotary encoder.

I really do not want to drill them, either. So, you actually got them to clear with the solder wick?
"I soldered a capacitor in the wrong place on one of my kits and managed to successfully remove it and get the holes cleaned out. I used solder wick with a little flux, but I first added some fresh solder to the holes to give the solder wick something to grab on. I had to do it a couple of times on one hole, trying from both sides, but it worked." I will try your technique, first. Thank you! -- 73 Karl KI4ZUQ |
QMX 12V high RX current
#qmx
Hi OMs I could not remove the original problem - a large current on the receiver (about 168mA), but I use the QMX radio in both DIGI and CW mode and it works fine. I tested the radio again in Terminal applications using the LPF sweep function - all ok. I also tried the Terminal test using the RF filter sweep function and it was bad on all bands. In the permeable part of the curve, in the middle of the band, where the attenuation should be a few dB, it is always around -20dB. Around -30-45dB at the edges of the curve. It looks like the transmission is heavily muffled by something (-20dB) during reception on all bands, but the radio still works!? Can anyone think of what could be wrong and if there is a connection between the attenuation of the RF filters and the high current during reception?? OK2PKT Roman |

QMX Audio Noise when switching to Digital mode
I finished assembling a high-band QMX on a 2023 Rev 2 board. First power up, no smoke! Everything seems pretty good except for when I tap the left encoder to enter digital mode, a horrible screeching noise emanates from the Audio port. With headphones on, this is a painful surprise!?
Has anybody else noticed this? Is it a known issue? Firmware is 1_00_017 16-Feb-2024 |

It should be noted also that it's a precautionary measure. Even with the factory assembled BSS84 it works fine... But it is a little vulnerable if you didn't observe good ESD practices, and this is why we are changing it.
