Difficulty winding and installing transformer T1
#qcx
I am new to building and having an extremely difficult time winding and installing T1 for the 40 meter kit. This has been my first effort at winding toroids. Between my eyesight and dexterity it's not

Re: QCX constant keying
My QCX does the same thing. I found that I apparently sparked pin 19 (I think) of the micro controller. It is grounded internally and does that I have a new chip on the way. Barry NF1O

Re: Soldering one pin headers
Blue tack. It¡¯s perfect for the job. It¡¯s what I always use. Once in position, it helps to hold the PCB steady once the board is turned over when soldering. Easy to remove, cheap too. What more do

Re: QCX constant keying
Sounds like you have created a short to ground on IC2 pin 19. Confirm with a multi-meter and take a close look over the PCB with a lamp and magnifying glass looking for a solder splash. feedback to

Re: New QCX build questions - Using the RX for a QRSS grabber.
My QCX is built and working and even just sitting bare on the bench, I¡¯ve noticed a frequency drift of around 25Hz as the room temperature varies. This wouldn¡¯t be even barely noticeable under

Re: I need a QRSS Signal on 477,700 KHz +/_ 100 Hz to test my temporary 630M grabber
I am working towards getting on 630M David but unfortunately I don't have an antenna yet. I also have an amp kit ordered. As soon as I can get a signal on the air I will let you know. 73 Tim

Re: Soldering one pin headers
I've also used a rubber-band around the circuit board and stuffed something between the band and header or whatever component is being soldered. To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2018

Re: Soldering one pin headers
Hold with finger, position solder on other side of PCB and move board / iron to touch solder. Bit fiddly but works and toughens up finger too ;-) 73 David VK2JDR

First QSO
I was finally home when 20M was open to test my QCX number 1773 on the air. It was a quick contest QSO with KY7M, Lee in Arizona. Supply voltage was 12.0 Volts and power out was 3 watts into the tuner

Re: Soldering one pin headers
It's called Blu Tack here too and it's available in some hobby stores. There are a number of similar things available that are basically the same thing as well. W0EB
