Re: [Knightsqrss] 80M SV beacon
Hans...& others
These QRSS beacons (and the grabbers) seem to be popping up on many bands
and on many frequencies. This seems to suggest that we each need QRSS Beacon
transmitters for all bands,

Keyer chip clarification
Hi all,
I lied about the pull ups....i really meant pull downs...sorry.

Keyer chip clarification
Hi all
Just some comments regarding the recent keyer chip thread:
1) Do NOT use 10K pull-ups! It won't work! You need pull-DOWN's! Not up! If you see this problem, then you can connect a 10K

Re: Funny thing happening to keyer chip
Hello Neil and Paul,
I had the same problem. Once I grounded the unused pins as Hans suggested all
was fine.

I have gotten the same thing with my PIC keyer chip. Hans suggested grounding all the unused pins on the PIC. With the jumper for 3Sec dots it seems to send the call at 12 WPM once every few

Re: Funny thing happening to keyer chip
Hi guys,
I think there is some variation in the ATTiny13 keyer chips. having
programmed over 150 of them with the software using exactly the same
programming arrangement I would say 1 in 10 chips

All,
This is very interesting because I had same issue. I was also just
monitoring my signal and mine just set the NDE of M0NDE fast then carried on
ate qrss. Please confirm connection you made

I had to add 10K pull-up resistors to the speed selection jumpers. This solved my
problems with unreliable setting of speed, and other strange behavior.

Funny thing happening to keyer chip
I just finished putting my 30m QRSS kit together yesterday evening (certainly more interesting than X Factor) and every thing seems to be functioning. I have run the keyer in its default 12 WPM

Low power SWR measurement
Does anyone have an easy method of matching your antenna to the 30m QRSS beacon? My SWR meter is not sensitive enough to work with the beacon kit and my QRO rig does not do 30m, but I do have a 30m

Re: Newbie questions
Hi Dom
I wonder if that is AGC action? It'll be a massive signal into your receiver and probably the AGC either in the receiver, or in Argo, will take a little time to adjust to it.
That's my

Newbie questions
Hi all,
Just managed to get a 30m kit built. Just testing into a dummy load right now.
When apply power the signal is spread over maybe 10Hz initially (wide band) after couple seconds it calms down

Final amplifier Bias

Having few spare time in october I just finished assembling the beacon kit.
Everything seems running ok but I am not happy with the 2N7000 bias setting.
Running the beacon at 5-6V, even with the

Re: Beacon is running
Hi Paul
As others already noted, the table is peak voltage, not peak-to-peak. That's where the missing division by 2 comes from.
Also bear in mind that table is for 50 ohm load. You were using 36

Re: Beacon is running
Guys,
FWIW the formula for calculating RF power into a 50 ohm load from the peak
to peak voltage observed on a scope is :-
Power = 2.5 x (Peak to peak voltage squared) milliwatts
So if you have a
