I solder all of my power pole connectors, easy to do and IMO a superior connection, last thing I want in the field is a shaky connection.

Re: Ham Radio Crash Course is building a QMX tonight!
It was not in fact live as it turns out, but rather a well put together 2 hour video of what he estimated was 6 hours of footage over 2 days, with two back to back errors on the screen installation

Re: Help with partially fried QMX
Ok, so some progress -
After reflowing a handful of cold solder joints, some of which were some of the early connections on the initial capacitors, the auto power on problem is now resolved. I did

Re: PA mod for QMX+
I have tried many sets of BS170, TN0110 and now one set of the FDT86256. The TN0110 works the best for me on all bands. I have never blown up a set of TN0110 and I get the best power out across the

Re: QMX+ with WA3TFS amplifier
COR will always result in the transmitter's output being hot-switched with a resulting very high VSWR; transient, but it only takes an instant to blow a FET.? If PTT is available it is always

Re: 60-15m QMX wound inductor attachment question
For all of the single-winding toroids, it does not matter which direction you install them.
Use the hole closest to the wire; if you wind them as described in the manual, the starting end will be on

Re: QMX+ with 100 amp/hour lithium iron battery
I keep a supply of 100pF and 1000pF NP0 leaded capacitors handy.? It only takes a second to tack-solder a couple onto a board or slip them into terminal block connections to help with RF bypassing

QMX+ PA Voltage: Software/Calibration Bug?
My QMX+ (Rev.3, 12V, FW 003) complains about low voltage at the finals. See picture: 9.7-9.8V in red.
I checked the voltages at C506 and C529 and they show the expected divider ratio of ~5.7:1. But

Both the QMX and QMM+ share the same software.? "PTT to TX delay "is in the SSB menu.? It appears to be applied in CW mode also.? If you are using CW you might want to turn on Semi QSK and put a

Re: 60-15m QMX wound inductor attachment question
The manual is very specific and there are plenty of pictures. Each toroid has a set number of turns. Follow the instructions. Prepare the ends by scrapping and heating the end when you install
them.

Hi Volkert,
Sorry to hear that you're still having issues with the driver.
I use a Linux operating system and try to avoid using windows as much as possible.
I'm sorry, I don't have a windows 7

Re: 60-15m QMX wound inductor attachment question
If my memory is correct, yes. Make sure you have scraped/sanded and tinned all the magnet wire before installation. Use sufficient heat, with a large tip.

A mistake on my query - this refers to the QMX NOT the QMX+.
Question then: can the transmit delay be adjusted ??

Each turn thru the toroid hole counts as a turn. The toroids must be wound in the direction shown in the manual. Here's some pics of my mid-band QMX.
