Re: 50w Amp testing
Hi Vince, The WA2EBY amp does not need the PTT line.? The QRP-Labs amp requires +5 volts to turn on the amp and 0 volts to receive.? That is configurable in the QDX Band Configuration

Re: 50w Amp testing

Re: Where to buy FST3253?
The SN74CBT3253CDR is a pin-compatible replacement from TI. (The SN74CBT3253CD, without the R, is the same chip in a tube rather than tape-and-reel, but it usually costs more.) Hans is now using it in

Re: 50w Amp testing
Hi Vince, I have used the QDX to drive the QRP-Labs 50-watt amp.? Hans warns that the 50-watt amp is not designed to handle the high-duty cycle of FT8 or other digital modes.? I supplied 13.8 volts

Re: "Walmart Parking Lots on The Air" - WOTA
Actually, it looks like LOTA is going to happen. Regardless of what you think about any of the "OTA's", if you operate out in public, consider a small sign that says something like: "Ham radio in

Well, it was amusing at first. Walmarts on the air. But the more I thought about it, the more it became a friendly way to bring Amateur Radio to the masses. Yeah, I know, the serious hams are against

Where to buy FST3253?
Hi. I bought four FST3253 chips to replace broken IC3 and IC4 in QDX (probably either a spike from the antenna or a self-oscillating PA killed them, and killed the op-amps... but I replaced the

Don, my 20 meter Mini is a Rev 1 but I have a Rev 3 that I built for 15 meters. It has the AGC and does not have the TCXO. I set it on 20 meters and do not hear any spurious signals in the

Re: QDX troubleshooting - Where to go next?
Charles, You asked about why 2.4V on IC5's outputs. It's because in transmit it's outputting a 5V square wave at the the operating frequency. On a DVM that high frequency square wave will read

Re: QDX troubleshooting - Where to go next?
To the best of my memory, the IC5/BS-170 'dance' was as follows (note: The A, B, C denotes the unit # - ie IC5 (A) was the IC5 that came preinstalled): - IC5 (A) + 4x BS-170s (A) - No RF output,

WOTA is already being used by the Witches On The Air group, and you don't want to mess with them. Remember what happened when the Sorcerers On The Air lot got riled...
