Re: Progrock in a GE MASTR II
I haven't tried driving a GE without using the ICOM as it provides a degree of amplification/buffering - and I haven't determined if the raw output of the ProgRock+cable+filter would be enough to

Re: strange issue with 20m classic; ideas invited
So you simply forgot that you already suggested it. Boy, tough crowd this lot, eh? But while I have your attention, Sensei, are there any other caps I should consider? -- Julian, N4JO.

Hi Jim I did not forget... But in his original post in this thread, Julian said he had already replaced the LPF capacitors. Well he mentioned three of them and I assumed that was a simple erroneous

Re: New QDX complete - no work.
You are also getting the USB serial port as well, right? Can you use something like PUTTY to talk to the CAT control and monitor software? Look in the Windows device manager to see if a COM port shows

Re: strange issue with 20m classic; ideas invited
Thanks for that, Ronald. Yeah, I've replaced three of the four caps in the LPF, so I might as well throw in the fourth (C28). I wonder if that 0.1u in C29 is a candidate? It's right in the output

Re: strange issue with 20m classic; ideas invited
Thanks for that, Jim... Actually Hans DID remember it: my first email was to him directly, and he recommended my changing all four. I've done C25, 26, and 27, and I have the part for C28, so I'm going

Re: QDX On The Air
Cool. Makes me wonder if I should not have done a 3:2 instead but eventually I want to use it with batteries and a switching buck converter for field use, so I am going to struggle with 9V. I have a

Re: strange issue with 20m classic; ideas invited
I'm a bit surprised that Hans didn't remember this: a number of people had low output power on 20 meter QCXs.? This was traced to the 390 pf capacitors in the low pass filter.? Several people

Re: QCX+ 40M Factory Assembled, TCXO
Arthur, I assume the QCX and the TCXO are both matched up for 40 meters, and both work fine together, so if that is correct, I will buy them if they are still available. EuGene Smith, KA5NLY

Re: strange issue with 20m classic; ideas invited
Hi Julian. Well the early Classics on 20 meters also exhibited the issue of a slow power increase on key down. You¡¯re seeing the opposite I know, but the earlier capacitors used were replaced with

QDX On The Air
As noted in my other thread, the QDX is on the air! I built it for 12V operation, which means that T1 is wound for with two turns on the secondary instead of 3. I powered up the radio with my 12 V

I have bought a few of these cables from Monoprice with the 5.5x2.1 connector on the end: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=6880 They're about 10 inches long. I put PowerPoles on the other end.
