Re: LCD DISPLAY DEAD
The power supply is a Basetech BT-305 rated at 5A and variable voltage/current. I,ll just order another kit. 73 John ? Digitally signed mail - M0ELS ________________________________ To:

Re: LCD DISPLAY DEAD
Have you tried a different power supply? That would be my first port of call, unless i was certain of that item. Even if there was a fault, I'd expect the power supply to have enough guts to maintain

dds chip
Just switched it on to check some voltages and the power supply voltage dropped to 3v. Red led is dimmer now, so it seems the DDS chip is gone. Unplugging the dds board brings the voltage up again to

Re: Dead lcd
Hi Hans, I am quite willing to pay for another kit. My soldering is up to scratch as I have done a lot of microwave stuff and spent many years soldering from 10 yrs old to present, so I know that's

Re: Dead lcd
John I am happy to replace a dead LCD or dead DDS or dead chip. BUT, I have to note here, that in the majority of cases where someone believes they have a dead component, it is usually something

Just out of interest have you tried an alternative power supply the one I initially used gave me a grayed out LCD and nothing else. Regards Jon - 2E0RFU

Re: Dead lcd
Could be the atmega chip that is dead. I blew up one of mine by applying too much voltage through a stupid blunder. The main sign that something was wrong was that the LCD was blank. i could hear

dds chip is dead
Ok, No signals heard so I suspect DDS chip is dead. Hans, have you got a price on a complete DDS unit or will I have to order another complete kit ? 73 John ? Digitally signed mail - M0ELS

Dead lcd
Ok, Had some time to check my soldering which is fine, but lcd is dead. Its now running to check if the DDS is alive as I will hear the tones on hf breaking through. 73 John Digitally signed mail -

Re: Thoughts on U2 temperature stabilisation
Andy, my own thoughts are that it should not be about stopping heat reaching anywhere, but getting the U2 up to whatever temperature it is going to be run at and then keeping the temperature

Re: Thoughts on U2 temperature stabilisation
Not sure if this data might be useful to others... My current U2 is housed in a metal box. The DDS can has stick on heatsink. The internal PSU regulators generate a fair bit of heat and so does the

Before I got my GPS working (firmware update v2.03) I ran my U2 very successfully on twenty meters housed in a polystyrene box. After careful adjustment to the value of the SYSTEM CLOCK parameter and

Hi Peter, That's the what I've gone with this. Am testing on 28mhz but am still getting intermessage drift. May need to go warmer? And maybe further reduce heat ingress from the pa section. Its
